Out Of Contract

Recommended Posts

Reports that Dean Campbell to extend his contract from 2021 to 2023.

Good news if correct.

Needs to improve dramatically.

Looked poor alongside Ferguson (got bullied a couple of times in big games) can't get into the team with our entire central midfield out (Bryson, Ojo and Gleeson) and behind 2 defenders in the midfield pecking order.

Looked the biz for the reserves so maybe needs a loan move once we get bodies back.

Smart work by the club.

Still not even 19. A wee loan to a lower half Premier or top half championship club for half a season might be in order

A lot of people have been saying that for the last couple seasons. Surprised he hasn’t had a loan somewhere already, especially when McInnes prefers to play full backs in midfield over him.

He was playing some nice passes about against hibs

Mcinnes was saying on redtv that he is too nice (2 cars on the drive @@ollie1903 ?)and needs to play more forward passes

I think he will kick on from here

The pass he played through for Scotland against Germany for our goal was exquisite

If he cant get into the side when we have 1 fit central midfielder he's unlikely to get in once Ojo and Bryson are fit.

Loan in Jan would suit all.

Agree. If were playing Leigh and Vyner ahead of him, this indicates to me McInnes doesn't feel he's ready yet.  Would love to see him starting week in, week out for a bottom half, or championship club during the second half of the season.  Not sure how developing a splintered arse is going to benefit a young lad of that age.

If he’s not willing to play him against bottom half teams (some of which we have really struggled against) how can he justify loaning him to them?

McInnes is the problem with so many of our young players. It’s not the players that are the problem.

But then McInnes will play him against teams at the top end of the league. He maybe feels with his style of play there aren't many clubs he could loan him to that would actually aid his development?

It is a difficult one but I think folk forget he's only 18.

Which is the primary reason I don't think he should be sitting on his arse every weekend!  I guess that's one of the issues, with us not having a proper reserve team - lads who're at the in between stage are stuck in the middle!

He was decent on the ball against St Mirren but I don't think he did enough without the ball which I think is why he got subbed off. He was spraying about some great passes when he came on at Hibs and when he came on against Hamilton I thought he was excellent.

He gets unfair stick for not playing forward passes despite playing two key passes in the St Mirren game that led to the first goal and the chance Ferguson should have buried. The fact his teammates trust him enough to give him the ball in shite areas where the only pass he has on is a backwards / sideways pass is pretty telling.

McInnes rates him, I don't think he's playing Vyner / Leigh in there because he thinks Campbell isn't good enough. He played him at Ibrox and we got a kicking. Probably more a case of protecting him a bit when the team (and manager) is under pressure to get some points.

He's got 16 appearances already this season playing under the pressure to get results, including in Europe. It's not like he's not been involved. He's training and playing with quality players Ojo, Bryson and Ferguson. That's got to better than going on loan and getting gubbed every week with 30% possession playing for some relegation fodder like Hamilton or Hearts

And maybe more to come in the future.

Atlanta cast offs that aren’t getting anywhere near their team, but are deemed good enough for us (like Gallagher)... but aren’t (like Gallagher).

With minimum (if fit) appearance clauses in the deals it seems.

Otherwise, wtf is McInnes playing him so often for if not being forced?
