Sevco have paid us £550K for the player to move now, and we've given them £350K for McCrorie, is how I read it

No they have agreed a fee for Wright of 200k which is being taken off the fee for McCrorie. We are paying the balance of that now so Ross can play in the games against them from now onwards.

The article from Scott Burns reads -

Rangers have agreed a £200,000 deal for Scott Wright - with Ross McCrorie set to move permanently to Aberdeen today.

The Dons have paid the difference in the McCrorie deal to sign him now.

It means McCrorie can now play against Rangers in the league and if they are drawn together in the Scottish Cup.

Dons chairman Dave Cormack had turned down multiple bids from Rangers before he finally got his price this afternoon.

Aberdeen had McCrorie on loan with a clause to buy him permanently in the summer for £350,000

Tbf if anyone had offered £200k for Wright prior to this season starting, I would have hoped the club would have snapped their hands off. It's a good bit less than his theoretical value using the development fee formula but I think if we had demanded any more than what we've got, sevco would just have left him with us and we'd have got nothing for him at all at the end of the season.

Wonder if we have snuck in a sell on clause also, or if both sides have said no to sell on clause regarding both players.

More chance of us selling McCrorie for a decent fee that them selling Wright so hopefully no sell on deals.

Be very pissed off if they have kept a sell on claim McCrorie deal & not included one In Wright deal

How many times do you need to be told we were not due a development fee for him, as he would not be registered until after the season in which he turned 23.

Good deal under the circumstances. Always thought Wright would be away today.

Also good to get the McCrorie deal done early as folk were panicking about that one being retracted when he was in good form before Xmas. Should give the boy a boost knowing how much we want him.

If we get Kamberi and Hornby then we won't be looking too bad.  Could have been a lot worse!!

Not sure how that applies in Scotland.

‘It was clarified that if a players moves before the end of the season a player turns 23, then compensation is due where an agreement is not made.

Wright signing for them post season would have meant no development compensation due to us

SPFL rule F3 https://spfl.co.uk/cms-content/images/shares/pdfs/Rules and Regulations SPFL 8_10_2018.pdf

Quote

Compensation
Compensation shall be payable to the former Club of a Player only where the Player concerned is Registered with his new Club at or before the end of the first Season in which the Player concerned reaches, will reach or shall have reached the age of 23.

Read that

It's FIFA/UEFA rules.........way above the SFA jurisdiction

You're completely wrong, Fifa rules state below(copied and pasted from Fifa website): check the Fifa rules and not some page written by an English journalist.

Training compensation shall be paid to a player’s training club(s): (1) when a player signs his first contract as a professional, and (2) each time a professional is transferred until the end of the season of his 23rd birthday. The obligation to pay training compensation arises whether the transfer takes place during or at the end of the player’s contract. The provisions concerning training compensation are set out in Annexe 4 of these regulations. The principles of training compensation shall not apply to women’s football.

Until the end of the season of his 23rd birthday, what do you not get? He turned 23 this season and compensation would only have been payable prior to the end of THIS season. If he didn't leave until after THIS season no compensation would of been due. A pre contract does not count towards signing before the end of THIS season, it goes by registration date at the new club, which would of been after THIS season.
