Aberdeen and Celtic both charged by the SPFL.

Two charges - brining football into disrepute and failing to comply with the laws of the game.

Hearing set for 28th August for the players.

Sure?

Is it not the players rather than the clubs that are being charged?

Edit:

Or players and  clubs?

Nope.

SPFL are going after the players

SFA going after the clubs for "bringing the game into disrepute"

Out of order going after the clubs imo.

As far as I'm aware both clubs followed the rules.  It was the players who broke rules whilst away from work.

Aberdeen 1970 is right!, you can’t go after the club as the offence was not during working hours,no employer can own there employees so that’s that!, especially as Aberdeen had football protocol rules to follow that were clear, concise and stipulated  to the players.

Obviously nae clear enough.
Or just blatantly ignored by 8 x players.

It's either or.

Has to be one.

Cant see why the club are being charged as what can they do about these idiots when they are on there own time. The penalty for the players is between a 2 & 8 game ban. I reckon they will get hammered with at least a 6 game ban. I don't see why the hearing is nearly 4 weeks after the offence though and technically the players could be back playing before the Hearing takes place

This suggests the other way around. Nae that I give a fuck.

The Scottish Football Association has announced that the eight Aberdeen players who breached guidelines, plus Celtic left-back Boli Bolingoli, will face two charges: one of failing to comply with regulations and another of bringing the game into disrepute. Hearings have been set for August 28.

The Scottish Professional Football League has also opened disciplinary proceedings against both clubs for alleged breaches of its Covid-19 requirements and testing regulations.

No way should Aberdeen nor Celtic be punished. We've gone above and beyond to exceed the protocols currently in place in Scottish football. As Steve Robinson, Brian Rice, Jack Ross and Gary Holt have all said, it should be the individuals who are punished not the clubs.

Apart from Cosgrove, Hayes and Mckenna (the signing of Hoban is a relief), I'm not overly fussed by those players being suspended for a while. We've enough quality to propel ourselves up the league and challenge for third. Just desperately need a decent striker.... Leigh Griffiths...

That's pretty stupid imo.

They can introduce strict rules but retrospectively applying them is daft.

Also, where are the charges against Rangers and St Mirren(think that's who they played)

Punishing clubs for players doing things outside of work is going to end up being completely unfair. We have already heard lots of talk if teams being out drinking in Edinburgh and Glasgow but no media focus so no backlash or punishments

😂😂😂

Of course that threat would have fallen apart the minute the Huns asked the SFA what the punishment was for rule breaches.

The SFA ignored a decade of blatant cheating by “Rangers” for a decade in which they won 15 trophies.

Dual contracts, side letters, EBT’s, and scores of ineligible players played.

All ignored & no action taken.

Purely down to one reason.

They shat themselves & were scared of the consequences.

Fuck the SFA & anything to do with them, including their national team, the corrupt cunts.

A bunch of Huns came back from winning the French friendly definitely not affiliated in case anyone gets sent off Cup.  16 reserves played Dutd at Murray Park (think) and the 1st team played Motherwell.  The Motherwell kickoff (6pm from memory) was delayed until 7.45 because the hun test results hadn’t come through.  Someone then asked the not unreasonable question how the reserve team had been able to kick off 4 hours earlier.

If I was Cormack I’d say in order to get the rest of the players listening you (Blazers) can have your day in the sun and other Scum media Outlets but we’re not paying you a thin dime.

This was all brushed over just like the Griffiths affair, if it wasn't for the Bolingoli affair being so blatant they would have brushed over it to. Scottish football is corrupt to the core. Mcoist actually mentioned during the Dons game commentary that he saw Hun Fans he recognised at the Lyon game and laughed and said they get get themelves in anyway they can

The knot they’ll still tie for themselves is that they can’t deduct points as both teams were prepared to play even without the players in question - Celtic being slightly more problematic as the individual players can’t be identified (other than 16 of Celtics and 16 of Kilmarnock) but then that brings in the further question as to what Difference, if anything, a positive test brings to the equation.

what they’ll end up with is the small clubs players petrified to do anything (what if 4 work together for instance) and the big club’s players less concerned if they’re only missing one or two players for a game or so.  I look forward for instance to the AFC players Christmas night out where the first 11 don’t go out.  But three threes and a two do.

And that’s before you bring the heady mixture of the SFA/SPFL’s bias and rank incompetence into it.

How will the lower leagues restart? That's what I struggle to understand. There's no way this testing structure and social bubbles can work.

The sporting  bubbles are a bit of a nonsense.

Provided players are tested regularly then they should be treated no different to other workers who get tested at work.

The risks are much lower for them giving each other covid anyway as they spend most of their working day outside and don't work indoors directly with the general public.

I reckon pubs will be closed again before Xmas and the risk of footballers getting into trouble greatly reduced.

A major problem with the intention to punish clubs and players for things they've done outside of work is that it all relies on the media or members of the public reporting infringements.

Which likely makes it all hugely unfair and unbalanced.

For one thing the media will now be absolutely hounding our players looking for the merest slip to haul them over the coals again.

Meanwhile half the rangers team could be drinking in the Louden tavern with Billy Dodds, Bill Leckie, Ally McCoist, Bobby Madden, Andy Cameron, Richard Gough and the ghost of William of Orange but not a thing would be uttered by the tabloids.
