The outcome, at least as far as the biggest party is concerned, is a foregone conclusion. The Dear Leader of the Non-binary People's Republic of MacWokeistan and her indefatigable patriarch may scrape through as a minority, which would be their ideal scenario - a referendum off the table (not that they'd deliver one, anyway) while they pander to maladjusted body dysmorphia types, neo-liberal warmongers and faeces frollickers who chase and sexually harass teenage boys, while criminalising speech they don't approve of (one hell of a slippery slope).

Is it now a Hate Crime to suggest they have ulterior motives and have independence very low on their list of priorities?

You can flip this round though, Sturgeon could do what she wants and staunch Independence voters would still see it as a means to an ends.
