Following on from the successful Gothenburg event, earlier in the year, a similar afternoon/evening of celebration has been arranged for the 30th anniversary of our Super Cup victory. The plan is to watch the Super Cup 2nd leg match from Pittodrie along with some other Dons highlights.  The date pencilled in is the 23rd November (first leg of Super Cup played on 22/11/83).  I'm informed that the format will be similar to the Gothenburg night, with beer and food on for a limited time in the afternoon at Durty Nelly’s in the city.

It's a ticket event, so drop me a PM and I'll pass your details on to the organiser.

I missed the Gothenburg night however, by all accounts, it sounded like a fantastic day!

I'm just off the phone to my sister who lives in Perth.

My brother in law is a massive Dandy, as is my sister.

Anywhere showing it? Is it on Setanta or anything?

They require a bar showing it...

SOTR?

I posted something about this in the Sydney thread. http://www.afc-chat....22#entry1047621

Efforts were made to secure a venue, but the licensing laws in Western Australia are an absolute joke... and the guys can't find anywhere.  For some reason crown casino are refusing to show it.  Not sure why, but as the game coincides with Super Sunday in England I reckon this might have something to do with it.  Cas is usually packed to capacity for Man United vs Liverpool and I've seen a fair bit of trouble erupting there during this fixture.

If there are any WA reds on the forum (or you know of anyone based here) it'd helpful if you made yourself known in this thread in lieu of any further events which may be organised in the future.  The Super Cup night had to be pulled in the end due to low numbers.

Change of plan!

...well done to the lads who've managed to talk Crown Perth into showing the match. Details below from:

In regards to your request regarding the Scottish League Final on the 16th, yes, we will be showing this match, it will be on the big screen but will only get sound at the conclusion of the Man U vs Liverpool game before it, as the turn out for games between these teams is also high.

Team jerseys are more than welcome, so feel free to dress up to support your team, but please no hats.

Regards,

Michael Russo,
Carbon Bar Supervisor

Don't think I'm going to be able to make, as it looks like I'm working away - which is a pain as I live a 20 min walk from Crown!

Should be a great day, Dons support is likely to number upwards of 50 ppl I reckon and I'm sure they'll out sing the Mancs and Scousers!

Settling down in Australia with possibly no tickets left come general release is up there with the best of half reasonable excuses.

Give me Scotland any day, you are over-rating what is basically a large scale Alcatraz for deported criminals.

The Northern Lights of old Aberdeen

Mean home sweet home to me

The Northern Lights of Aberdeen

Are what I long to see

I've been a wanderer all of my life

And many a sight I've seen

God speed the day when l'm on my way

To my home in Aberdeen!!

Was a bit humid today I thought!  I was sweating like a paedo in a playground.  Nothing a few beers next to the pool couldn't sort out though!  Forecast to get our first rain of 2014 tomorrow.  Actually looking forward to it!

Give me Scotland any day, you are over-rating what is basically a large scale Alcatraz for deported criminals.

Changed times over the past 100 years or so... these days folk are fighting hard to obtain a visa which will allow them to live and work in paradise.

One negative in WA... licensing laws are draconian.  The casino complex is on a far great scale to anything you'd encounter in Scotland.  The place is constantly being swept by CCTV (which I'm assuming is the reason they don't allow hats!).  Get caught even so much as stumbling and a group of heavies will have ejected you before you could regain your balance.

Worst thing about WA: it's illegal to be drunk in a pub.  Madness.

I had an opportunity to move to the Gold Coast in '98 or 99, about the same time I had the opportunity to move to Detroit.

In my defence I was doing a fantastic amount of recreational drugs at that time, and I remember thinking, "I fucking hate beaches."

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot my question... are you allowed to get pished in a bar in Queensland?

Couldn't manage due to work.

Will hopefully make it their for the Scottish cup final.  I like Crown as a venue for watching sport - it's fucking massive, but when it's packed out it generates an atmosphere.

I saw the FB vid you are referring too... last time I saw someone dancing on a table in there, they were forcibly removed by the over zealous security staff.
