Whelan is still a good player. If he signs for Hearts that's a good signing for them. Don't get me wrong if given the choice between Bryson and Whelan I'd take Bryson but Whelan is still a very decent player at this level even at age 35.

It's always a risk signing an older player. For example I thought Barton would be excellent up here but he bombed.

 

I still maintain that Defoe and Davis will do well at the huns this season presuming they stay fit. As far as Whelan goes he could bomb but all you can go on is that he has always been a very decent and consistent professional so the odds suggest he will be decent for Hearts if he stays fit.
