Aberdeen today completed the loan signing of Manchester City midfielder Chidiebere Nwakali until the end of the season.
The Dons completed the move for the 21-year-old Nigerian this morning at their warm winter training camp in Dubai.
A Nigerian U20 international Nwakali won the U17 World Cup in 2013 and was recently on loan at Norwegian top flight side Sogndal Fotball.
Nwakali was on Manchester City’s tour of the USA in July and also signed a one-year contract extension with the Premiership leaders last summer.
The midfielder had previously been on loan at Norwegian side Start and also spent time on loan at Spanish side Malaga B.
Dons boss Derek McInnes moved quickly to replace midfielder Greg Tansey who has joined Ross County on loan until the end of the season.
Nwakali’s younger brother Kelechi, 19, is currently at Arsenal.
Aberdeen jetted out to the United Arab Emirates from Glasgow on Tuesday, arriving in the early hours of today.
However Nwakali was not on the flight as he arrived separately to meet up with the Reds squad at their hotel in the Jebel Ali area of the city,
Dons boss McInnes has now added to new players to his squad in the January transfer window.
He secured the return of Northern Ireland international Niall McGinn on a three-and-a-half year deal until summer 2021.
McGinn, 30, had been a free agent having terminated his contract with South Korean side Gwangju.
Midfielder Nwakali is the latest loan signing McInnes has taken in from the English top flight.
He secured keeper Danny Ward from Liverpool during in the first half of the 2015-16 campaign.
