Shinnie To.......

Recommended Posts

Big signing decision for him.  At this point in his career he needs to look after things financially.  He has no emotional attachment to Aberdeen FC since he is not a fan.  If Wigan are offering a considerable package, then good luck to him.  I'm sure he'll continue to give 100%.  He will be welcome back in Aberdeen any time - unlike the rat.

Ok. Knows exactly what’s happening as does the club and gives us six month lead in to replace him. Meanwhile we know we’ll get 100%.

Not seeing the issue. Short of the Maclean deal where we bizarrely got him cash plus player this is the next best outcome.

Thanks Graeme. Anyone deriding your contribution simply hasn’t been watching or has a very short memory.

Next.

Ps leaving with silverware would be just dandy ta.

This.

Plus, he could just be fed up with playing the same teams 3-4 times a season.

If I was Shinnie I'd be open to staying at the Dons for something like £5k/week on a five year deal.

He's already on £5k/week....

Our offer was to make him the highest ever paid player at the club equivalent to what Mcgeouch was offered in the summer (assume therefore £6k/week). However Wigan will be offering at least 50% more than we can. Over a 3 year deal, that's nearly £500k more. No brainer at his age.

What is obscene is that in the league above where he is going, there are quite a few players who make £500k in a fortnight.

Paying him 5k a week to stay would be absurd, could get a much better midfielder in for that sort of money.

Kind of agree.

I don't think we'll find a player with the same drive and will to win though. That's the issue.

Some folk have screamed for a Willo Flood type. That's Shinnie, just far, far better. It's a shame we didn't have someone who could dictate play beside him for most of the season. He's expected to do too much, some of which he doesn't really have in his locker.

Sure about that? The offer was to make him the highest paid player at the club. Not the highest ever paid. You reckon we'd have paid him more than what Craig Hignett was getting?

And the expectation to do too much is why he gets booked so often. Picks up a lot of silly bookings being out of position and getting frustrated. There is no agenda against him, he just runs about a bit like a headless chicken. As you say though, great drive and determination and will be missed as a captain.

Hignett was on £8k per week during the £3 million loss per annum years

Not convinced Shinnie will struggle in Championship.

He's built for the 55-60 games a season they go in for down there. He'll be more swim than sink and a shite team is probably a good way to go.

At a promotion chaser his lack of goals and assists would see him benched by September
