Shinnie To.......

Recommended Posts

English Fans - "The SPFL is shite. It's league 1 equivelant"

Aberdeen Fans - "Fuck off, we'd be Championship level at worst"

Shinnie leaves to the Championship

Aberdeen Fans - "Doubt he's good enough for that level"

As a midfielder don't think he is good enough for the seriously promotion chasing Championship sides (as a left back certainly good enough). But if he insists on being a midfielder then he is probably good enough for a lower to mid table side

Is it the exact same people saying all these contradictions, or is it maybe some different people with differing opinions?

Love it when folk come out with shite like you just said like the whole support are actually of ONE opinion & ONE voice lol

If a Blackburn team that includes Charlie Mulgrew, Craig Conway and Joe Nuttall can hold their own in the Chanpionship, then pretty sure Graeme Shinnie would be fine down there.

John McGinn also seems to be doing well at Villa. The same McGinn who Shinnie generally had in his pocket up here.

Exactly. How anyone can say that level is above Shinnie when you see some of the very average (& even shite) players that have gone down there before & easily held their own & all others that have previously 'held their own' (or better) down there & then come up here & tanked.

Anyone saying Shinnie couldn't handle it down there is just quite simply being childishly bitter about him fkn off.

His brother is a very good example. Arguably a worse player than him who was decent down there & bang average at best for Hibs.

Is there any mileage in this or is it just speculation?

It's a sad reality when someone wants to risk leaving being captain of Aberdeen and a Scotland squad regular to join a non entity like Wigan who have a smaller turnover and where he could be relegated before he even signs.

They won an FA cup about 5 years ago.

Spurs, West Ham, Everton. Newcastle to name a few haven't won a trophy in eons.

I don't disagree, that they are not what they were at that time

But why some have the continual need to put down clubs like that is beyond me

I'm not putting them down. I'm saying Aberdeen are a bigger club.

Wages apart everything else is a step down in my eyes. And there's risk involved. They could be relegated meaning the manager could be sacked, they would likely want different players on lower wages etc. Its far from being a sure thing that he'll be a Championship player next year playing for an upwardly mobile club.

They also knocked Man City out of the FA Cup last season after beating them in the final 5 and a half years ago.

They are a small club though that were propped up for years by a combination of the deep pockets of their rich owner and EPL money.

Surely an ideal situation could come from that? Gets his contract paid off and we get him back? ;)

Even if they get relegated/lose manager & new manager has to change players.

Shinnie still gets the value of his contract & likely a deal at another club down there paying still as much as we can offer at least.

Not like he doesn't get paid & has to retire if they get relegated.

He's accepting a deal that is better for him financially than we can offer. Knowing that even after that deal he can likely still get a deal equally as good as we can offer from another club down there once he's played down there.

It's now the sad cycle of any decent Scottish Player as they go to try and earn the big bucks.

A lot of Hibs/Hearts players come to mind especially:

1. Become good at current SPFL team

2. Let contract dwindle down

3. Leave for buttons or free once contract is up

4. End up back in Scotland after a couple years in England on loan or transferred.

McInnes has done well to not have this happen to too many of our players over the years by tying them up on long contracts (only really McLean and now Shinnie and GMS that I can think of).

That's cos we've been the club picking up the McGinn/Rooney/Reynolds types coming back after their spells in England.
