Europa League - Third qualifying round

  • 3 domestic cup winners from associations 13–15
  • 3 losers from Champions League second qualifying round for non-champions

This years teams in this pot of CL QR2 losers are from: -

Besiktas Tur 54.000 PAOK Thessaloniki Gre 21.000
Viktoria Plzen Cze 34.000 AZ Alkmaar Ned 18.500
Rapid Wien Aut 22.000 Lokomotiva Zagreb Cro 4.975

Europa League - Play-off round (20 teams)

  • 3 winners from third qualifying round for non-champions (see above)
  • 5 winners from third qualifying round for champions
  • 6 domestic cup winners from associations 7–12
  • 6 losers from Champions League third qualifying round for champions

Europa League Conference - Play-off round Non-champions (34 teams) - Losing in Europa League QR3 (Scottish Cup / 3rd place), drops entrants into the ELC Play off round

  • 1 domestic league fifth-placed team from association 5
  • 4 domestic league sixth-placed teams from associations 1–4
  • 26 winners from the third qualifying round for non-champions
  • 3 teams eliminated from Europa League third qualifying round for non-champions

This is still likely to mean Aberdeen would be close as to whether they are seeded or unseeded for the PO round as earlier rounds still contains countries with higher co-efficients e.g: -

2nd round

  • 9 domestic league fourth-placed teams from associations 7–15
  • 1 domestic league fifth-placed team from association 6

3rd round

  • 6 domestic league third-placed teams from associations 7–12
  • 1 domestic league fourth-placed team from association 6

This looks great for AFC. Not sure why there was a bit of negativity from AFC when the Conference competition got announced.

Big prizes to aim for this season.

Will still be very tough, likely unseeded for both ties

I thought I read Scotland has team in groups of this new conference set up?

1st place Champs League QR3

2nd place Champs League QR2

3rd place (or Scottish Cup Winner) Europa PO round

4th place Conference QR2

5th place Conference QR2

Assuming the scottish team loses in the PO round they'll be in the group stages of the Conference League

The re-arranged home game v Hamilton will be Tuesday 20th October at 7pm.

Excellent opportunity, with that and the Tannadice visit,  to get 6 points in the bag before the pish stained minks game on 25th.

Don't let us doon.

Then bin the Tims to go 1 point behind them.
Or above them if they have failed to beat the hun.

Oops. Got carried away there again.

Ye'd think that struggle against St Mirren would have widely reeled in such gypit and misplaced optimism.

Would appear not. What a tit.

It wont be confirmed for quite some time. It makes assumptions as to how they will deal with spots not being taken up.

As it stands the third entrant will be QR3

edit- i'd hope before the end of the year

Exactly, as it stands the Scottish Cup winners / 3rd place will be in QR3 for the 2021/22 season.

I see no potential for this to change in the coming months.

There is an opportunity that the Scottish Cup winners / 3rd place can get the PO round in the 2022/23 season depending on results this year

Bert Kassies view is that it will happen so I'd be hopeful as he is the guru.

We just need to wait and see how things are rearranged.

I'm hopeful you'll be saying oh yea fair enough you were correct

I don’t see where Bert Kassie is saying that.

can you please highlight as I think you are still misinterpreting.

Troll through the forums on his site if you cant survive waiting until uefa puts out the stuff for this season

it could go either way so happy to wait and see. dont even know if we are going to finish third and a top 3 side will win the cup yet

The placings are already in place for next years competition.

We as a country are ranked 14th. There is a potential to effectively be bumped up to 13th with there being no previous Conference League winner, but 13th place still means QR3 for the Scottish cup winner.

We are on course to break into the top 12, which would mean a PO space in the Europa League and as a result, guaranteed group stage football. However that would be applied to the 2022/23 campaign
