I hit the pin on a par 3 at one of the 18 hole courses at Hazlehead. 

Decided there and then to give it up. Close enough to the perfect shot.

Garbage? That's not accurate. I'd say the average handicap of golf club members is above 10. So if you're calling someone who's better than the average player "garbage", I'd disagree with whatever ranking you're using.

I gave up because I had other interests I enjoyed more and wanted to focus on instead.

A 10 handicap is a good player I’d say. Compared to the beauts you see hacking their way round on a Saturday morning and factoring in how difficult golf is to get a hold of.
