Aberdeen sack Derek McInnes

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to Killie today. They were better than us this season. A great achievement to finish above us, on a fraction of our budget.

We keep hearing that McInnes will eventually leave us and head back to England. However, this season he had money to spend on a transfer fee (a huge luxury for 99% of clubs in Scotland) and a relatively huge wage budget, which was largely squandered in disastrous fashion. He's lucky he's at Aberdeen, because in England this would have cost him his job.

Sorry but Killie have been extremely lucky with injuries and key decisions going for them this season. The last two games have produced the two worst penalty decisions I have ever seen.

100%

Many of us have said similar regarding him for a good while now.

Just takes a couple of fannies to ridicule this sentiment for it to become the norm. Much like the propaganda spread in politics.

The tripe folk will lay down & accept as 'it could be worse' acceptable is scary.

How many abortions of windows is he allowed?

It was Aberdeen’s sixth highest points total in a campaign and only one less point than we achieved in DM’s first season.

Kilmarnock had the season of a life time and were very lucky over the last few games.

No need to wet the bed.

Whilst not dismissing your point entirely (their season reminded me of Motherwell coming 2nd) it’s also hard to call them lucky when you watch Brophys penalty versus ours. Kind of summed up the season for me.

I don't think the issue has been finishing 4th in itself. It has been the amount of brutal games, particularly at home. We actually finished with the best away record in Scotland but the 6th best home record. The vast majority of fans only see home games regularly so it's been pretty frustrating watching us struggle to break these teams down.

Or it proves we’re a team that plays better when it’s an open game and not against teams playing for a draw.

Agreed. We run out of ideas at home, usually because we're pretty ponderous on the ball and end up going long when we quickly run out of options. Teams are happy to soak in the pressure then hit us on the break.

The league is contested over a 38 game period. Whether they got a couple of lucky pens lately is neither here nor there.

However our away record was the exact same as last season. The loss at home to hamilton and draw with St Mirren were really poor. Also the home 0-0 with Killie when we dominated them was a must win. We rebuild and go again next season but we must have a much better transfer window than the previous few.

Aberdeen have begun their summer recruitment drive by agreeing to sign out-of-contract striker Curtis Main from Motherwell and holding talks with former Dons defender Ash Taylor, who is available on a free.

Rumour, but if Taylor story is true, fuck off. Shite player, makes Considine look competent.

Couldn’t argue he wouldn’t put his head where it got kicked. Didn’t lose many poor goals in the air, something we’ve been culpable of this year. And carried a goal threat at set pieces, something we’ve lacked.

Not the worst but still has that frightened bambi bomb scare element in him.

And he thought he was better than we were.

And India....

Ash Taylor I assume is a starting 11 type signing so considering we've got McKenna, Devlin and Considine all players who McInnes is happy to have start at centre half, this kind of suggests he isn't expecting one of them to be there at the start of the season. And the obvious candidate is McKenna.

or maybe he's going to go with his usual Ibrox formation in every game from now on.
