Aberdeen sack Derek McInnes

Recommended Posts

You can't say they are nothing special, they sit top of a europa league group with feyenoord and porto in it, they absolutely hammering teams week in week out. Why can't folk just admit that a draw last night with the team we had available is a really good result. Tactics at the start may not have worked but he never really changed the shape, he just moved a few guys around but the application got better from the players as the game went on. The huns also slacked off at 2-0 then couldn't work their way back in to the game. Over the 90 minutes the manager got it spot on and got us a very good result. Still sitting third which is where we should be and as the manager said were doing 'FINE' which clearly shows he knows we have a lot of work to do but were still picking up enough points.

They are nothing special.

As soon as we hounded them they couldn't play under pressure. The wanking off of them on here saying how much better they are than last season is miles off the mark. They will finish 8+ behind Celtic again.

Something happened last night.

After 35 minutes we were heading for another Croatian / Tims type nightmare, then we turned up.

Hopefully the appointment of Cormack has started to have an effect on DM.

However did not appreciate his post match comments that he had proved a few folk wrong and that we were 4 points better off than last season.

Truth is Derek my boy is that team performance has been on the slide since 2017. Last night's fightback was great and Taylor's inclusion also working out well.

However one game doesn't make a season.

Further judgement saved until after the Hibs match, whereby we are up against a side who cannot defend at present. Expecting a draw at worst but, realistically, tactics that ensure we have a good chance of securing 3 points.

This acting like he's some sort of tactical genius by moving Ferguson and Leigh about is pathetic.

He started the game deliberately playing both of them out of position. It's hardly rocket science figuring out that players will play better when being played in or nearest to their natural position.

Nonsense. Heaps of folk on here think Ferguson is better further forward.

Yes something happened last night at 0-2 Mcinnes looked up at cormacks box and he was waving his P45 Mcinnes was then surprised to see he had grown a set of large balls which replaced his no balls since the season started. A miracle took place In the second half the whole team had balls and managed to draw a game which seemed lost. Thing is now will the now team and manager with new sets of balls keep them for future games.

as others have pointed out many believe Ferguson is best as an 8/10 position.

I really prefer him as number 4 type. I think he influences the game far more from that position. Despite moving further back he was involved in both goals

My thoghts exactly.

Standard of football on show has been dreadful at times. Last nights 2nd half performance was an improvement but what frastrates most fans is why the team were not allowed to play like that from the start and I'm not just talking about against the huns.

He should be setting our team out to press teams and to be far more attack minded.

The only way he will prove folkes wrong is if he learns from what happened last night and takes it into future games. I fear he is so stubborn that he will just revert back to what he knows and we will be back to watching eye bleeding stuff again.

Really hope I am wrong but nothing suggests to me that McInnes has learnied anything from last night.

I don't think it will change his outlook.  He saw last night as validation of his methods if anything.

I agree but not if we’re playing another two number 4s Ojo and Bryson alongside him. Hes good enough to be number 8 with a decent 4 beside/behind him and a number 10 playing off Cosgrove. But that needs a fit number 4 and a number10 appearing from somewhere.

For 4 we have to go for Ojo in the meantime as we've handed him a 3 year deal.

For number 10 I think a loan signing there is the priority for January.

I agree with the majority of your post however the bit in bold, it's the same tactic he has used against the weegies for the last 3 seasons and it hasn't worked, why continue with the same shite over and over again.

I think Taylor will be a first pick now he's fit. He'll play with McKenna until he departs I reckon.

So Considine (if fit) shunted to LB again? Harsh as he’s been consistently good to average at worst of late.

Leigh pushed further forward to make way for keeping Considine in side. All to get Taylor back in side?

not sure I agree with all that.

or will McInnes go with 3 at back pushing the FB’s into a midfield 5?

Yeah I think he likes Leigh further forward. Especially with Ojo and Bryson out

Well that's just nonsense. He beat the huns 3 times down in glasgow using the same tactics. He is the only manager to beat Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead  domestically by using the same tactics. Unfortunately he doesn't have the players to carry out that game plan anywhere near to those levels at the moment. Guys like McLean & Shinnie driving the team forward and being brave on the ball.

Could drop the goofy judas and try Taylor with Considine

2 questions.

1) Why doesn't he have the players to carry out that game plan?

2) Given he doesn't have the players to carry out that game plan, why doesn't he change the game plan?
