Fit Do You Do On The Rigs?

Things have changed since then. The Torp Express buses all have toilets and are nice buses - far better than anything you'd get from the airport in the UK. The journey will take around 1 hour 45 minutes.

The shops in Oslo do sell beer and cider, note that they stop selling after 8pm Mon-Fri (6pm Sat). The VinMonopoli (the off-license) sells spirits and wine with a wide variety and has normal shop hours. As suggested earlier, best bet is to get your duty free when you land at the airport. Just follow the Norwegians!

From Gaerdemoen there is the Flytoget (equivalent of the Heathrow Express in London) which is 16GBP one way and takes 20 minutes to get downtown. The alternative is the National rail which is half the price and takes around 45 minutes.

I have never paid 10GBP for a beer in Oslo! Most people drink the local beer (Ringnes) which is as good as British beers and will cost you around 4GBP for 0.4L. 0.6L will cost you around 5.5GBP. Spirits in the pubs are more expensive, however.

Avoid the Scotsman Pub - any relation to Scotland stops at the name, and it is a hole. There are far better pubs in the area, around Karl Johans Gate and the Dubliner on Rhadusgata is very popular with Brits and usually has live music. Aker Brygge at the fjord side is full of bars and restaurants which are the prime location in Oslo, but the prices reflect the location.

The best way to the ground is the T-Bane (Subway) with a few routes going directly to the ground and the trains are pretty regular. Takes about 10 minutes from Oslo City Centre.

Very helpful, thanks for that :thumbup1:

Good news about the bogs on the buses now, may take the bus instead of the train, to save beer tokens.
