RedRichard
Some unfashionable optimism: The result tonight was entirely predictable and in line with our respective FIFA rankingsOur squad is not that bad (obviously we need to address the back four and striker). The next four games ought to be used to gel the squad and team. Bulgaria are very beatable - then it's one more game to qualify. Link to comment
DelMonte
For what it's worth - they are the best international team on the planet. Link to comment

maryhilldon
We dont have the players Northern Ireland have at their disposal. It's easy for them when they've got McGinn and can even afford to have Magennis on the bench. Link to comment

CalgaryDon
We don't have any decent players and haven't for several years. Both Wales and Northern Ireland have better squads. Link to comment

Studebaker-90
We really need to start bringing through some ugly players again. An ugly player is the only one I trust to put everything on the line and that will have a bit of grit and determination about them. Link to comment
HairyPie
I see FIFA are looking to have mixed teams in place in time for the 2030 World Cup. Each squad must have equal amounts of men and women, and at least 4 of each gender on the pitch at any given time. Scotland might improve by that point - or we might have to wait until the transgender implementation in 2038. Link to comment

Gilwern
Going forward, we actually have good players: Forrest, McGregor, Fraser, for example. You can imagine them causing problems for lots of teams.Defensively, however, I think we're really weak. In terms of nationality... I find it hard to believe that the likes of McBurnie, Phillips, Ritchie etc would be as motivated as Scottish players. If you listen to interviews with players, international camps can be turgid affairs. Without the passion to play for your country, international games could feel like a chore. Therefore, perhaps we'd be better off a decent Scottish player up front than a Phillips or McBurnie. Link to comment
HairyPie
Surely ANY Scottish central defender who is getting a game for a professional club in the SPFL is better than Mulgrew? Clarke is going down the same route as Strachan / McLeish. Picking players that have been involved before and who belong to an English club, no matter what their form, match fitness or actual ability is. I would be disappointed if Aberdeen signed McBurnie, just because a team spunked vast amounts of money on him does not mean he is international standard. He must be amazing at club level, don't watch guff fitba so can't really comment. Link to comment
The Oxford Don
I'm not even sure I buy the whole 'we have a really good midfield' argument. Yes, guys like McGinn, McTominay, McGregor are all good, competent footballers but none are potential matchwinners. John McGinn for example is developing into a cracking player, but he's highly unlikely to win you the match with a moment of individual brilliance. You can fairly state that we have options in the middle of the park, but it maybe only gets mentioned because we abundantly do NOT have options anywhere else. Worst cliche in the game, but still true: goals change games. You look throughout our team and think 'where are the goals coming from?' And if that's the case and you're also honkingly bad at the back, then you're in trouble. QED. Link to comment
