Aberdeen sack Derek McInnes

Recommended Posts

He had a pretty funny comment on the radio post match about being the new Jim McLean with all these kids signed long term.

As mentioned elsewhere he had a fair comment about why Deano isn't playing as often as we'd like but gets a game against the bigger teams.

what was the explanation

what was the explanation

That he's better in "technical games" and is less accustomed/ready to scrappy, battle type games. And that he needs to essentially learn how to play in games vs carthorses who'll just boot him about the place. However in games against guys who'll play football, he's happy that Campbell can hold his own.

Derek McInnes has given me some of my best moments supporting the Dons.

That semi at Tynecastle

Knocking Celtic out the cup at Parkhead

Ending the trophy draught

Beating Groningen away

Beating Rijeka away

Maddison's last minute winner

Beating Hibs at Hampden

Winning at Ibrox three times

Beating them at Hampden

And loads of good bounces in between.

I'll take being shite sometimes to enjoy all that. Topping it off with a Scottish Cup would be fucking marvellous, especially if he does it by beating Rangers at Ibrox, Celtic at Hampden, then doing Hearts in the final.

Add in scoring about 1000 goals against Partick, Dundee and Motherwell in those barnstormers, knocking high flying Killie out the cup and that backs to the wall LC victory against Motherwell and it’s not too shabby!!

You know if we don’t win on Saturday people will be back calling for his head though don’t you

Inconsistent at home the biggest criticism, mainly due to lack of creativity when we need to make the play.

Seeing some younger players break through has been the biggest bonus. We haven't had a crop with potential like this for a long time. I'm pretty excited about it.

Oh and knocking the Huns out of both cups.

Agree with all the above.

Young players breaking into the team is certainly the biggest bonus this year.

Bringing our own young players through or signing good young players from other teams and then selling them on when it suits us is certainly the model which will see us florish in years to come.

Traditionally a young lad would get loaned out to toughen them up . That likely to happen with Deano next year ?

I’d rather he kicked on with us next season. Cancel the family holiday to Disney and make him spend the summer in the gym and drinking protein shakes. I remember Considine going from a tall gangly fella to a bit of a unit in quite a short space of time. Doesn’t seem like Deanos game is based too much on pace so bulking up a little shouldn’t have too much effect.

Nah I don't think he needs loaned out. Think he turns 18 very soon and the boy clearly has quality. With Shinnie leaving and Gleeson (in my opinion) unlikely to be here next season now is his chance to be a permanent fixture in the squad. He's just easily held his own away to Celtic and Sevco. Same goes for Wright and Anderson big pre season coming up for them all. Let's hope they all take their chance.

I agree that he does not need loaned out.

Appears more than capable in holding his own and he certainly looks to have the right attitude to continue working hard.

Rangers fans still spouting that McInnes is a bottle merchant. Despite pumping them 3 times in Glasgow and had some really close games against Celtic down there as well.

(Aberdeen fans still spout it as well...)

Plenty over on AbMad right now who would have him gone. One even suggest he could win us the Champions League and he would still "want the smug hun tosser out the door." . There are 'fans' like that in every support.

McInnes is just using his experience to outdo the inexperience of Gerrard and the huns cant cope with it. Would they be any better with him in charge...? yes i think they probably would be. McInnes has his flaws, but he knows the game in Scotland and he would have improved them, especially in the league and cups. Sevco chased Gerarrd because he was a 'name' in football, regardless of experience and all because Celtic had Rodgers. It was a dick measuring experiment that has cost them millions, with nothing to show for it. They will never learn.

To be fair to him, this season it's been opposite to previous.  Seemed to handle smaller teams/games well but struggled with the bigger ones.  Now he seems to relish the bigger games.  After drawing with Celtic then knocking the cunts huns out of cup, wouldn't be surprised if we get beat by Livi on Saturday.

League cup final aside that is, which I think GMS getting injured stunned us for their goal

Gerrard was actually a clever move by them, a big name former player who can attract players, draw on favours in English football, attract investment and also get them extra publicity and sell tickets/tv matches. They also made sure to have experienced coaches with him, agreed they’ve nothing to show for it, but I bet they haven’t lost as much money as we hope/think unfortunately.

Anyway, fuck him, scouse mink Hun cunt

This looks like being the way they have to go now - appointing on financial pull rather than managerial ability.

The breadman was a banker/accountant in a previous life, wasn't he? They must have been hoping he could help cook the books on the side. Pedro was rumoured to have some Qatari investment folk backing him which may have provided an alternative revenue stream. Gerrard appointed on name value to maybe shift a few shirts to thick scousers.

The huns are now the equivalent of a Force India type F1 team who choose drivers not on talent but on the amount of money they can bring through backers and sponsorship.
