Just played 90 minutes for Iceland so fitness can't be an issue......McInnes obviously just not a fan. I think this has been a signing based on fan pressure and he's just not cutting it in training.

Not sure what their next game is but if he gets another 90 under his belt then think he'll start at murrayfield

Next game is on Tuesday and he will certainly start that one, will probably go against him though as DM will be working on The Hearts game all week and Kari won't be back till Thursday

McInnes better not make an issue or the fans will be forced to chose and the Iceman wins every day of the week.

What were the other defensive options available to the Icelandic coach?

How settled is their defense?

What do their fans make of him - is he getting in cause his face is a familiar fit or is he there on merit?

I think we need to know this before his status at the Dons is cut and dried.

Still, I tend to agree with you and I also think that Arnason is disloyal for leaving us the first time as he did so, sentimentally I don't care for him.

Same boat [almost] as Aluko - he thinks he's too good to play for us - that's the sense I get from him anyway.

Would love to be wrong on all counts.

I kinda think Derek & Doc place a fair bit of onus in how much players interact and apply effort in training.
Perhaps Kari isn't on the same wavelength training wise.
Per previous posts I hope I am completely wrong and KA proves to be a good signing as the season progresses.

Aye McInnes certainly seems like the type of manager to base his signings on what folk are saying on Facebook etc.

Arnason would have played for the mighty Iceland on Friday night with one fucking leg.

Who, Incidentally, were humbled by the mighty Finland.

Not sure if it's just a Scandinavian thing but at Firhill during warm up before game and at half time Arnason couldn't have looked less interested if he tried. (He reminded me a lot of A Stavrum - the definition of laziness). No danger will the coaches tolerate that. I think he likely feels he should be strolling into the starting line up.....and the reality is, he should be....but if there's not a change in attitude then I really can't see him getting a sniff at starting.

It's Arnasons job to convince Dek and Doc to select him.
Thus far he's failed to show enough in training and the games he's played is how i see it.
The ball is in Arnasons court. Up to him to do something with it.

Exactly how I see it none of this it wasn't a Mcinnes signing rubbish he simply has yet to prove he deserves a starting place

Shipping 3 goals against a team destined for bottom of the table should be enough for McInnes to look at other options.

I was really happy when we resigned big Kari, but you know what? If he doesn't cut it and McInnes decides not to use him, thats fine I'll trust the manager on that.

My only concern is that we do need to improve that defence and if its not Kari then we need to work out some other solution (be it Ball, or bringing in Harvie and moving Considine or whatever).

I'm actually quite confident Ball will do a job for us. Against Thistle there is no doubt we missed Shinnie in the middle snapping at heels.....I could see Ball filling that gap. The hope is Arnason shows enough to claim a centre half place.....and I'd have to say from what I've seen so far Reynolds looks like best of the rest. AOC has zero pace and Considine will always get 10/10 for effort, but he's the very definition of bomb scare!!

Considine is NOT the answer for the middle of defence.

Never has been, never will be.

Slower than a week in jail.

Aye I don't mind Considine at left-back most of the time but he's a fucking nightmare in central defence.

He's brutally exposed without Hayes at left back.

Not really.  Wright and GMS both do the defensive work of Hayes.  How many goals have we conceded from Considines flank so far?  The Deacon one which Lewis should have saved and we might have shipped een to the Cypriots, but most of our problems have been caused by shit defending in our box.

Wow, you've got some eye for a player....is it you that's been doing the scouting for Sevco?? He's utter utter gash!!! How a player with so little pace or awareness can make decent money from a football career is beyond me. Kenny MacLean (who is a player of decent ability) was ready to knock the fecker out at Firhill and rightly so. He's pish!!!!

You speak absolute pish. O'Connor is comfortably the best central defender we've got, based on what we've seen this season.

I agree O'Connor has played well so far this season and been our best CB, but going by last season I'm not convinced he can step up and be trusted against better teams.

Happy to be proved wrong soon though.

He was also our best centre half last season. Had a mare in the league cup final yes before people start bringing that one up. But overall he was very good.
