Red_Rocket_1983
A few fuds on here were saying Hewitt isn't a club legend because he also played for celtic. Disgusting attitude. Hewitt will forever be an Aberdeen legend. 1 1 Link to comment
Red_Rocket_1983
He tarnished his reputation by going there, no doubt. File with Cooper. Once great, now ... tarnished. Cooper I can kind of understand the thinking after his goal celebration against us but not Hewitt. Link to comment
King Street Loon
Whilst naming training pitches is a load of pish and also the bed wetting over the name of the training complex is ridiculous, I'll throw my suggestion in.Name the pitches after local Aberdonian/Aberdeenshire ex players.Give the new generation of Aberdonian/Aberdeenshire yoof something to aspire to. 1 Link to comment

BWG
Fa actually gives a fuck what the training ground is called? I'm surprised we didn't just sell the naming rights of it and get some extra cash in. I notice Sir Alex isn't on the list, so presumably the great man will be getting a stand named after him. Fridge
Main stand - Willie Miller Opposite stand - Alex Ferguson Behind the goals - Durrant dived and Fernando Ricksen. Link to comment
HairyPie
Understand Miller, but Ferguson? Does no one remember October 86 when he jumped the sinking ship with The Dons 6th in the league? Him and Knox were rightly booed out of Pittodrie. 2 Link to comment

HairyPie
Iconic yes, didn't leave with the goodwill of the fans. What he has done since has airbrushed memories. He didn't even turn up to the last game he had meant to be in charge of, put Knox there for him. Link to comment

If stands are being named after Dons legends Miller and Fergie should both be right at top of the list. Link to comment

But the difference between them and Aberdeen was a tiny fraction of what it is today. Aberdeen were competitive in Europe, paying players the same they could get at all but the top few clubs in Nigelsville. Sky Tv's brainwashing has worked a treat, even when it comes to people's personal memories. Ferguson no doubt got a substantial pay rise to go there, but it wouldn't have been stupid money. He'd also just committed his future to The Dons after turning down the huns for a second time. Dons fans were justifiably angry. He had also fell out with the guts of the side, who were showing their displeasure on the park. Link to comment

Ten Caat
I'm sure that I read somewhere that Ferguson took a pay cut to go to Manchester. When they both went to negotiate their new salaries at Man U the United board were horrified to find out that we were paying Knox more than they were paying the manager they had just given the dunt to. (Atkinson iirc) Link to comment

He achieved all he could possibly achieve with Aberdeen and went for a fresh challenge of which he proved himself. Not sure why folk are bitter about that. Link to comment

He was a very ambitious and driven man who had realistically achieved everything he could at AFC. Getting the opportunity to turn around the fortunes of a sleeping giant who had permanently been in Liverpool's shadow for well over a decade was something he was never going to be able turn down with his fierce determination to prove himself. It could have gone wrong for him at United (and it very nearly did) but when you see what he ultimately achieved there no-one can say he made the wrong call. He challenged himself in a a very difficult and different environment and came up trumps and because of that he's now recognised by most as Britain's greatest ever football manager. That wouldn't have happened if he'd stayed in Scottish football. He was with us for over 8 years and won 10 trophies. He turned down the huns during that time if he'd left to go to them then that's a completely different argument. Link to comment
