Because ultimately its cheaper than mass long term unemployment.  And people on furlough aren't sitting on their arse by choice.

I'm winding up Manboobs.

You are a strange fish Parky. The Government, UK and SCO need to take responsibility for their massive fuck ups.

I agree. I'm just mimicking you. ?

What's your thoughts on new police powers to 'disperse' gatherings in private homes Parky? Comfortable with that?

Why is it that every time you "ask" me something, it's a leading question that reads like you're just picking an argument? ?

I Would need to look in to the detail. Instinctively, no I'm not. I'd assume these powers are temporary and have a fixed expiry date, like much of the other measures introduced?

The current situation with Covid and it's nature (contagious virus) and us relying on high compliance of guidelines to protect the population as a whole, throws up a lot of situations like this. Where we have to balance the freedoms of us all, with the need of society as a whole to limit the spread.

The line on each issue will be different for all of us.

Reasonable answer TBF.

I genuinely cannot believe it's being allowed without batting an eyelid. I wonder how many parties in well off areas will be targeted or will it all just be on council estates? You can guarantee the police will misuse these powers to settle a few scores, unlimited powers to break into people's homes if they think there are more than 15 people?

What have we become? A fucking police state.

How can these powers be passed without a vote in Parliament?

Since we'll never be free of covid we'll presumably have to keep these powers forever, the same as our stupid fucking muzzles and our pointless plastic screens and visors and stupid wee bottles of hand sanitiser.

I fucking despise Sturgeon now.

I've voted SNP for the last 15 odd years, but I'm beginning to detest her as well. She should start taking a step back from the limelight,  sick of listening to her.

Given her approval ratings have went up the last 6 months, I doubt she'll be losing much sleep about that.

Where's the money coming from like?  We can't pay folk to hide from a glorified cold for another 18 months, that's an absolute nonsense

Agreed but it's the government themselves who've fucked the economy and they need to keep helping people. If not the furlough scheme some form of assistance for certain sectors.

She'll be losing votes Parky, the longer this madness goes on.

Well that's pretty much the opposite of what the polls show. I think you're making the mistake of thinking the population as a whole feels like you do. They don't. There are high approval ratings for her handling of it all.

Not at all I don't doubt polls do show that but I'm predicting that the longer this goes on she'll be losing votes.

I'm also concerned that doing all this because it's 'popular' in polling is the correct approach. Terrifying the population into accepting disgraceful invasions of privacy and being thankful for it are not something she should be proud of.

They're not doing it because it polls well though. You're getting them mixed up with the Tories who decide policy based on how it polls.
