  1. Yet reportedly he's being called up for England, and has played in European competition this season and will still play at least two more Euro games. Unless England don't have a few good keepers, he's good.
  2. The point in football? The vast majority of teams will never win anything at all, you think they should just all quit? What's the point? Same in all sports both team and individual, most will never win anything, the point is taking part. The duopoly of the current era cannot be changed or at least there's absolutely nothing on the horizon that could change it, the dominance is greater than it's ever been and if anything will only become even more insurmountable. As they hoover up tens of millions in Europe topped off by tens of millions more in season tickets alone then even more millions in varied commercial activities no one else can come close to matching The greatest blow to Scottish was the Bosman ruling, that was the end for anything outside those with larger fan bases then mega rich TV deals. Pre Bosman the clubs pretty much owned a player as long as they wanted to. Paying him a hundred quid a week? When his contract ends all you have to do is better it, tell him now you get another tenner a week, and he either takes it and signs the contract or he refuses to sign the contract, and goes nowhere because the club owns his registration. Anybody think Aberdeen could have held on to the likes of Miller and McLeish so long if they could have just ran down a contract and walked away to earn millions? No chance. Bosman was the beginning of total dominance by the richer clubs. To be fair the previous setup was an unacceptable type of modern day employment slavery, effectivity owned by an employer and that had to end. But aside from freeing the players it did nothing but the rich favours. Mega money TV deals in England put another nail in the coffin of the not so well off. No one else will ever win the Scottish premiership again or even come 2nd unless something dramatically changes. And as I said, there's no such dramatic change on the horizon, so for the foreseeable future this is it.
  3. Agree, he's far and away the best keeper in the league and one of the reasons they have the best defensive record in the league. Lucky to get him out of contract not entirely free though, reportedly on around 26K a week but agree again that if they decide to sell they can pull a major chunk of cash for him. To recover those wages and more. Though I don't think that will happen this summer and especially not if they make Champions league. He will still have 3 years on his contract this summer and if they make CL who wouldn't want to play there, it might be the only chance he ever gets. And if he performed well there maybe even a top 4 English side might come in.
  4. This is just the typical course of things in Scottish football for non OF sides and has been for many years. I believe Aberdeen have actually been lucky as such, the two Edinburgh clubs have each been relegated more than once. It's because our and their much vaunted financial advantage over the provincials just isn't enough to make a major difference. It will give an edge but it's not the overwhelming advantage the OF have. And is no guarantee of success. As has been proven city clubs can and will be relegated because in the current age the edge is relatively minimal. Bosman was the killer blow. You think Willie Miller and McLeish etc. would have spent a career at Aberdeen in the age of Bosman? No chance. In this instance I actually believe the results will improve and there will be a challenge for 3rd. I can guarantee you nothing will change because as I said, it's been this way for years now and there is nothing that can change it. And again, you seriously think anyone with "a CV & track record" just queuing up to sign in when we snap our fingers? I think not.
  5. If he hired a youth player to manage the squad your analogy may have some credibility, but he didn't. He hired a man who is familiar with the club and who knows more about football than you or I ever will. He's not delivering what? A league title? It's irrelevant who the manager is, as it stands no one outside the OF will ever win a title again. Not delivering a league cup? He should be consistently beating a multi million pound squad who just days earlier went away from home and defeated an undefeated top Spanish side? A further thing is who in the world do you think wants to manage Aberdeen and unrealistic expectations? Perhaps nobody but someone with a link,as Robson did. This is pretty much as good as it gets, challenging for 3rd and an odd cup final. Hire a new manager every season if you like, I can guarantee you right now nothing will change. McInnes was the best manager the club had in decades, Kilmarnock now the benefactors after he was mindlessly hounded out. That has to change.
  6. I can guarantee you that you can make these changes you desire and the OF will absolutely 100% still dominate season after season. That's not an even keel and while some features may be annoying they are not relevant to the state of Scottish football where only 2 teams can ever possibly win the league. That's down to finance and no rule changes can do anything about that. The OF are now further ahead of everyone else than they have ever been and that gap is only likely to increase.
