  1. I thought he was still of an age where we will be due a development fee for him? Somewhere in the region of £500k? He's been very inconsistent, honestly not sure if he's really worth a lot more than that anyway.
  2. Especially as the next Holyrood election isn't until 2026
  3. Perhaps not a bad thing. SNP are a party in transition right now. In both the upcoming General Election later this year and then the next Holyrood election due in almost exactly 2 years, they're highly likely to lose a fair number of seats, mostly to a resurgent Labour. Whether or not at Holyrood it's enough to stop them being the largest party in a for sure minority administration remains to be seen. But if Forbes was to be leader of the SNP immediately, she'd maybe get away with it in the GE as it being so close she wouldn't have enough time to change their fortunes in the interim. However being the leader at the Holyrood election and not ending up as First Minister would essentially be the end of her career at that level of politics (though she probably could still return to being a run-of-the-mill MSP for as long as she desires). Letting Swinney see things through till then would the pragmatic thing to do for her. Swinney will be 62 by the time of that election. If he loses the SNP the First Ministership, you'd think he'd probably resign as leader (and possibly as an MSP completely fairly soon after that). If he leads the party to still being the largest party there....although the other parties could unite to deny him the First Ministership but it would mean Labour and the Tories uniting their votes to do so and then agreeing between themselves who to make FM so you'd think it unlikely......Swinney would serve at most 1 full term as FM before handing over the reigns at the 2031 election. And of course there is still the question of the health of his chronically ill wife who's likely to need more and more care as time progresses. If she worsens dramatically, he'd be unlikely to continue in any position at Holyrood never mind as FM.
  4. Few of that list going o/o/c or loan term coming to an end. Duk and Miovski being sold no great surprise. MacDonald I think we'd allow to leave for free if he wanted to leave for whatever reason. That leaves Jensen. Still 2 years on his contract. He's not been great for sure. Question is if we're going to let him leave, how much of the (rumoured) £400k we paid for him are we looking to recoup? I suppose the whacking great profit we'll make on Miovski will alleviate any loss we make on Jensen but even if we got £200k for him it would still be a fairly drastic hit we'd be taking.
  5. Ok I'll kick things off Motherwell v Livingston.......Motherwell to win 7/10
  6. She's actually my MSP, bizarrely I'm considered part of the Glenrothes constituency for Holyrood but NE Fife for Westminster. Gilruth is actually an excellent constituency MSP but as you say, not particularly impressive as portfolio holding minister. Unfortunately for the SNP, other than Swinney, who has in the past said he holds no ambitions to be leader again (his wife has fairly severe MS of one of the progressive types), there's no candidate who doesn't have either personal or ideological "flaws". For the good of the party, he might be able to be persuaded to take on the role for a short period of time. My own choice would be Forbes but her personal views tend to be both socially and economically conservative, in contrast to the majority of her colleagues and probably the wider SNP membership in general. I actually think it might be for the best if they go for an early Holyrood election and end up losing to Labour. A spell of reflection and as the main opposition party might manage to unite them and maybe a genuine outstanding candidate will be found in that time
  7. I actually like her but find it difficult to believe she didn't know something, given that her husband is the alleged perpetrator (I accept there may be others yet to be uncovered by the investigation) of said fraud. Coupled with the extreme haste she resigned her position which on the face of it came right out of the blue last year.
  8. And you're from Falkirk ya minky bastard. You bore the shite outta me
  9. Offering a contracted manager a job without agreeing release terms with his current club first? And not just once, but twice?? I'd have thought the SFA would have something to say about that. Involving a hefty transfer of wonga from AFC to their bank account. Accompanied by 2 letters warning AFC about their future conduct regarding approaching managers of other clubs. That is, of course, if it actually happened. Which I doubt.
  10. Devlin needs taking out the side for both the team's and his own good. Get him rested and recovered ready to go again in the new season (ideally as back-up to a newly signed RB/RWB). Unfortunately in recent weeks Gartenmann has looked reasonably competent. I still hope we send him back to Denmark and sign someone else in the summer instead but I've a feeling the Scandinavian connection with our incoming boss might play into his hands and we end up with him joining for the next 3 years. Still have no idea how Sokler managed to fuck up that late chance clean through on the 'keeper. Almost comical.
  11. I'd probably have gone with Mackenzie rather than Phillips. He would at least have blootered it. Of course that blooter might well have ended up 20 rows back in the stand.....but if it was on target it wouldn't be saved.
  12. Was actually discussed on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on both Sat and Sun. Hypothetical question, who is better, Miovski or Shankland and should the arse cheeks try to sign one or other of them. All the pundits agreed that Miovski is the better player all round and that Celtic should try to sign him. Cunts all thought we'd accept about £3m for him though.
