BWG
Finally got round to finishing The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan. 800 pages of blatantly ripping off Tolkien. Thing could have easily been condensed into about 300 pages. Link to comment

I was going to buy a copy to take on holiday with me for some easy poolside reading.A bit late but I bought it today and have already read a good chunk of it. It's excellent. Link to comment

The Oxford Don
Just finished Larry McMurtry’s Lonesome Dove, once described as the finest Western novel ever written. Won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction the year it came out. At a shade under 900 pages it’s a lengthy fucker, but whilst it’s a wee bit slow to get going it ultimately provides an exciting glimpse into life as a cowboy and the perils faced by the original settlers of the Old West. Never thought I’d enjoy a cowboy novel, but I’m really glad I persevered with it. Link to comment

The Oxford Don
I never realised Brokeback Mountain was based on a novel. Yeah, it started life as a short story by Annie Proulx. McMurty himself wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation. Link to comment

Trump bashing has become quite fashionable. @@Poodler If you're planning on reading it wear some sort of headgear... because you'll get a concussion with all the facepalming. You've an administration split into multiple camps, Trump Loyalists, Bannon Loyalists, and 'Traditional Conservatives' like Ryan. All pulling in different directions, all concerned only about what's in it for themselves, and a president who genuinely seems to have deep seated mental issues to the point where he can't even concentrate on a subject for more than a few minutes at a time. SirTimothyofMintlaw
Lust for Life: Sean Paul Thomas. An Edinburgh dysfunctional get diagnosed with terminal cancer and quite rightly goes for it.. Being a good guy, I won't spoil it for you, I read it today in one sitting. Editing is shite (some paragraphs are repeated one after the other, but all in all, a good book. No thanks sought or required. Link to comment
For Fecks Sake
Reading the latest Quintin Jardine novel and his Bob Skinner series. Nae bad so far and a lot better than some of the previous ones from the series. Still think he models Bob Skinner on himself and how we would like to be though! Link to comment
BWG
Just finished Norse Mythology. It's sort of a collection of short stories based on Norse legends but formed into bigger narrative. Nice and easy holiday reading. Link to comment
SirTimothyofMintlaw
Driving over Lemons Don't know who wrote it as I don't waste my time on trivial details. An English guy and his wife uproot and go and live in Andalucía. Which, for the mongols amongst us, is in southern Spain. Anyway...book promised more than it delivered, although I must say the quality of the paper on which is was written was good. Waste of time and money. Link to comment
