What I've found is that I am referred to/called my full name, as if it's double barrelled, instead of just my first name. Still better than having a surname for a first name though Link to comment

Stewart is originally a surname, not a first name (The Stewart Dynasty of Scotland). Stewart is a corruption of "Steward" which was a medieval honorific title ("High Steward of Scotland") held by the originator of the Stewart Dynasty. I don't know when it started to be popular as a first name, at a guess maybe around the time of the Jacobite wars - perhaps people started calling their sons Stewart through Jacobite sympathies. hopeisimportant
Donald John McDonald used to read the news on TV Donald McDonald was a guest at my wedding (connection to wife's family). The name cracks me up! As well as first names for surnames, I don't get why fathers give their sons the same name as them. Totally weird and seems to be common up north. Link to comment

elephantstone78
Neville Neville. Now deceased I think. Lazy parenting to give your child the same first name as you. That's what I keep being told by my daughter John. I also know a painter & decorator called Donald Donald. He did a poor job painting my living room so I will not be recommending him to anyone.
