I agree with shit stirrer james o'brien on lbc. Brexit fan wind up merchant. People who want to be politicians should not be allowed to run. It should be humble people who do good for the community without wanting the backslappery and baubles. Just normal folk who work away and give their free time to help others without the money.

Not fact checked yet so not saying it's true but I read somewhere that when the MP expenses scandal was raging on, the MP with the lowest expenses out of all the MPs was Jeremy Corbyn.

Remember the letter from celebs against Scottish independence.

That was dismal.

I understand the sentiment. However, I can't help thinking people are excessively harsh on politicians. It's an exceedingly difficult job and the vast majority will be in it for the right reasons.

You see it on Question Time a lot. Member of the audience puts their hand up and says something to the effect of 'See the problem with you politicians is you're all liars. You're about as useful as a chocolate teapot' etc. Cue massive round of applause.

Hardly an insightful analysis.

It's pretty hard to determine whether they are self-serving or not.

I actually know an MP of the 'nasty party'. Couldn't meet a nicer, more ethical person. Does his best to improve the lot of his constituents and believes as passionately in improving society as anyone.

I'm not sure 'normal folk' would have it in them to be politicians. You'd need one hell of a thick skin to put up with the shite they put up with.

Social media gives the impression that since they can comment on the daily mail it gives them expert knowledge. "I'm no expert but..."well shut up, your point isn't valid.

Ben shapiro getting owned by andrew Neil is a prime example of this. A large volume of cheeseknobs with little or no knowledge, but a medium to spout their nonsense.

I remember he knocked back free hospitality to the Rugby World Cup coz he had a constituency surgery on that day. Says a lot about him.

A sound judge of character, given how wank rugby is.

Yeah I meant it in a good way. Instead of going on a freebie he was meeting his constituents.

Was never a Bob Geldof fan anyway, but ever since he stuck his oar in and backed the union in his usual pompous manner I've despised him. WTF does it have to do with him anyway?
