The Ryan Fraser Clause

Recommended Posts

Didn’t take much effort. I remembered most of the players and it was just a case of looking up their Wikipedia page or the transfer market website. And this article that came up from a simple Google search https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/aberdeen-fc/five-dons-deals-failed1/

If it’s one sided then that’s because I was focusing solely on dismantling and rubbishing your claim that the RDS fucked our playing budget for a decade. Mission accomplished.

I wasn’t denying the costs of the RDS because I didn’t know how much it cost. Not a fuckin clue on that score, much like yourself , I suspect.

And as for your comment that Dick Donald would have been against the stand being built ...... he was still the Chairman when the decision was made to build it.

How can you say that buying players (ignoring the selling of players to offset this) is the only thing that fkd our playing budget when the white elephant stand cost a fortune at same period.

The debts that were accumulated over those earlier years totally restricted our playing budget latterly because were were struggling to even make the interest payments of the debt we had.

That debt we had that was generously cleared a few years ago was hung around our neck by the DD stand mostly.

To deny this is ridiculous

The RDS cost £4.5 million. The debt was over 3 times that number

Milne appointing and subsequently paying off a series of halfwits and sanctioning transfers like £850k for Brian O’Neill and the Robbie Winters/Billy Dodds fiasco is what caused the debt. He also had the brass neck to hang around the club like a bad smell after he got someone else to pay it off for him

The mans a cancer on our club and Scottish football as a whole

You seem to think that I’m saying that it was only the costs of buying players fucked our playing budget. Where have I said that ?

You’re the one that pinned the blame solely on the RDS . FAR more one sided than my comments.

Although you’ve toned that down a bit now by saying it was mostly the RDS that accounted for the debt.

Obviously the costs of building the RDS will have had an impact on the club’s overall finances. As did the inflated transfer fees we paid throughout the 1990s after the costs of the RDS had been incurred.

From the Wikipedia page about Pittodrie , the RDS cost £4.5 million to build. These transfer fees I’ve listed amount to far more than that. We also paid transfer fees amounting to about £1million for Paatelainen , Shearer and Richardson in 1992 when the RDS was being built.

And these figures for transfer fees don’t include any fees we paid for the dozens of other players we had on our books throughout the decade after the RDS was built. Nor do these figures include the wages for all the players.

So from these figures it’s more ridiculous to pin the blame for the debt mainly on the RDS. Even moreso if the RDS has generated increased corporate income for the club over the years , and even if the boxes weren’t packed out every home game.

Did I say 'solely' the DD?

I said the DD most certainly did affect our playing budget negatively

Not mentioning the the buying of players doesn't mean I didn't think that did also latterly both things affected it negatively

You implied it was solely the buying of players if you want to go down that route. So much so you even ignored the selling of players to offset this & tried to say that that was the sole reason for our debts spiraling upwards out of control.

The combination of the two had the negative effect in latter years & the interest payments got too much/ridiculous

Why don't you add in player sales to your one sided list to compare

Go & re-read my post & tell me where I said it solely affected our playing budget.

I said the DD had a massive effect on it. It fkd our playing budget for a decade or something similar

I didn't then tame it down. Just because I didn't include all other things that negatively affected our budget doesn't mean I think it was solely the DD.

the DD massively affected our playing budgets in latter years via the debts it's helped create. The debt started to increase year on year because we couldn't make reducing payments.

That clearly meant our playing budgets were negatively affected

You never used the word “solely” , but then I never said you did.

You made the bald statement that “The DD stand fkd our playing budget for well over a decade”. In that post of yours you didn’t mention any other factor as having affected the playing budget negatively. In other words the DD stand was the only factor which you stated as having fucked our playing budget. .....ie you pinned the blame solely on the RDS.

My original post only mentioned the high transfer fees we paid after the RDS was built to demonstrate that our playing budget wasn’t actually fucked in the subsequent decade. Unless , of course , your definition of “fucked” is wide enough to include the club spending their highest ever transfer fee for Bernard , which is still the only time a Scottish club other than the Ugly Sisters has paid a million quid for a player.

But , as I said , you toned it down a bit , and explained that your written words didn’t actually fully set out what you were thinking. So thanks for clearing that up for those of that aren’t mind-readers.

The Dick Donald was purely a means for Milne to leverage his way into control of the club, thought that was well known? The debt accrued by the club was by overspending chasing success and TV money that never materialised, see the whole of Scottish football.

Hignett got a £400k loyalty bonus when he left (amount might be wrong), after not competing his contract, that’s how ridiculous our finances and deals were...........along with deals like Winters/Dodds. The DD certainly added to our financial idiocy, but it certainly wasn’t as big a hindrance as our stupid spending on players and wages

I doubt very much Hignett got a "loyalty bonus", he asked for a transfer.

He's just boxing clever.

That statement tells Bournemouth that he has no plans to sign a new deal there.

It also alerts clubs that he's definitely up for a move.

I'd imagine Bournemouth will choose to sell as he's halfway out of the door in his head now anyway

Aye, that's the sort of quote that was fed to him from his agent. It doesn't say he wants away but allows everyone to read between the lines.

I'm just wondering who might blink first. Man U have just signed that Swansea winger so can't imagine it's a priority for them any more

I’ll put the tin hat on and say that he isnt worth anywhere near 20 million let alone 30 or 40.. would be astonished if he goes to a top 5 or 6 EPL club. My guess is that Everton will offer 12 and he will eventually go for around 15.

Even in that scenario We'd still get 3m though which would almost double our record transfer fee received. And that for a player who hasn't been here for about 6 years
