manboobs109
I'm trying to get my WiFi into the garden so bought a booster thing and plugged it in at a back window but it's still a shite signal in the garden. Any tips? Could I get an extension cable run it into the garden then plug another one in? Would that even work. As you might have guessed I'm a bit of a mong at shit like this. Also the decking bit I want the WiFi at is surrounded by conifers, would that make a difference? 1 Link to comment
Sooper-hanz
Mantits, was it a powerline adapter you bought ? If the signal is that bad in the garden you could get a length of Ethernet cable, wireless switch and job done . Link to comment

beer gut
a few possible solutions if you have a phone point near the back garden, relocate the router and see if that works. if you can you can also try splitting the frequency to 2.4 and 5ghz and connect to the 2.4 ghz see if it makes a difference. 2.4 range is better buy a wifi extender/repeater and plug it close to the back garden see id it works if you have an iphone you could try buying a set of powerline network things and an apple airport express. plug the airport express into the ppwerline adaptor with a length of ethernet cable and sit it on window sill. can try it outside if its dry. Sooper-hanz
Attenuation doesn't affect Ethernet till about 2km So best bet is a mother of a cable, routed Failing that a bt Wi-Fi extender that when setting up tells you optimum distance from router to plug it in thus providing max extension of signal to gardenLook up 11ac booster 1200, I've just done same thing for conservatory Amazon stick As beer gut says too, try joining 2.4ghz band, not as fast but better range Attenuation starts the moment the signal enters a length of cable and starts dropping immediately. Sooper-hanz
Not in Ethernet cables, no Certainly not noticeable anywayAttenuation is a physical law . Doesn't matter how the cable is made up you always get signal loss . Which Ethernet cables run a distance of 2km anyway ? Are you the BT chap MT? Link to comment
E-P-K
Just tether the 4g signal from your mobile to tablet / laptop. Job done. 1 Link to comment

Sooper-hanz
FAR from noticeable though! You do know that you are referring to BT's Ethernet product which is a fibre cable and not a copper cable? You do know that don't you ? Link to comment
Sooper-hanz
Haha I'm talking about basic Ethernet cable I've ran 4 if them under the house, no problem with attenuation at all!True , but it doesn't solve Manjugs problem if he wants wifi in his garden. Link to comment
Sooper-hanz
A 'wireless ' Ethernet cable ? ? Link to comment
