King Street Loon
Was fucking atrocious last night.A hat trick against Partick on the last day of the season and a decent performance against St Mirren earlier this year, what has this lad actually done for us?I'm not sure he's of the required standard.Would a loan help him?, regular games etc. Link to comment

aberdeen1970
Aye he's running out of chances. Squad is so small and already full of out of favour midfield players though so a loan in January is looking unlikely I'd say. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
He seems to have lost it in the heid. Doesn’t know if he’s supposed to be coming short or going long and continually seems to choose the wrong option. Then, by good fortune, if he does get into a decent position the end product just isn’t there. Ok McLennan played a blinder I get that but the difference was utterly stark and immediately fed through the team. Link to comment
NEM
Never had a consistent run in the team. Showed a lot of early promise but aye a loan would be best. Preferably to Partick Thistle, seems to play well at Firhill Link to comment

Ok McLennan played a blinder I get that but the difference was utterly stark and immediately fed through the team. I think so too... even though it's been really rare, we have enough to know he's got some talent. It's tough though, the last two games I've attended in person at Pittodrie, he's been the worst player - embarrassingly out of his depth. I'd like to see him take a loan in the championship for the second half of the season... see if he can get himself going. Link to comment
dave_min
Fed an absolutely superb ball through to May against St Johnstone, and that was him peaking. He's been shit ever since, and getting worse!!!Needs sent out on loan, then released. Shame really, he’s a decent lad who showed a lot of potential. Link to comment
BWG
Nae good enough as it stands. Out on loan in January. Link to comment
craegDAMH
He was pish last night, but he's not a winger. Needs games through the middle Link to comment
RUL
Was he not a winger all the way through youth system? I only saw him twice and both times he was put wide from what I remember. Link to comment
Byrne Baby Byrne
Was non-existent through the middle in the league cup semi Maybe hes actually a right back Link to comment
craegDAMH
He's always played as a winger? So fuck knows what you're on about. School football to now, winger. I'm saying he is better suited to playing through the middle than as a winger. Was non-existent through the middle in the league cup semi Maybe hes actually a right back He was just back from about 6 weeks out injured wasn't he? And he did have the one bit of quality that created one of our only chances in the first half of that game though. Also had the one bit of quality playing through the middle to set up May's chance against St Johnstone Link to comment
StandFree1982
He's got this habit of trying to beat his man, not doing it very well and having to turn back and pass it to Logan. Every single time. When he does get past his man, his end product is terrible. I still think he's got something, so might be worth sticking him out on loan and seeing how he gets on. Link to comment

Tord31
Ive got a feeling we'll need to be creative with the wage budget in January. If we can get someone to take Wright for £1k/week then its a good option. Backfill with some other loan that hopefully pushes more aggressively for a start Link to comment
Guest
Don't think we should be selling Wright. He'll find form. Can anyone tell me a time he's managed to start 5 games on the bounce? To my knowledge, he never has. Link to comment

strachanmcgheegoal
5 starts? There was only one question on everyone’s lips last night 46mins having watched McLennan for 1 minute. I like the lad. I want him to do well. But it’s not happening for him here any time soon. Link to comment

Also still looks like he needs a bit more muscle. That's the thing with young players, they'll have bad games. I agree, he still needs muscle. A loan to a championship side in January would definitely help his progression I reckon. Playing week in week out in a tough, physical league would make him a better player. Even a loan to St.Mirren or Dundee or something, get him playing games at our league level. Link to comment

Andy_123
He needs a loan for sure. It was the making of Pawlett, i'd say Wright is in a similar situation to him. Link to comment

I'm convinced there is something there... a good loan move may be the making of him.. Maybe we need to send him for an entire year next season too... then give him his final year, back at Pittodrie to win a new contract. To be honest, on the pitch and, from what little you glean from interviews off the pitch, he comes across as a bit of a big girls blouse. Maybe needs to harden up, or develop a bit of attitude! I'm not necessarily speaking about doing a few extra session in the gym, as physically he looks in great shape. When i see him play, the way he carries himself... if I'm an opposition player, I'm thinking i can bully Scott Wright. In the Hamilton game, their big centre halves were just leaving a knee, or a boot in there... and Scott didn't look like he fancied it. Link to comment

maryhilldon
Looked like a future star when he destroyed Thistle, he was unplayable that day. Disappointing he hasn't progressed. 1 Link to comment
King Street Loon
He hasn't got the heart.Gets a few knocks and it knocks the stuffing out of him.Someone else described him as a girls blouse and i think thats pretty accurate. Has always struck me as a coddled loon and he's the type of player weegies love saying is typical of Aberdonians. Soft and from rich homes with 3 or 4 cars in the driveway. 2 Link to comment
Wee Alickie
I've been an advocate of playing Scotty Wright last season especially when DM wouldn't, so it's a pity that he didn't take the chance to show what he can do against St J and Livi. I saw him score goals for the U20s a few years ago and I was at Firhill when he scored a super hatrick in our 6-0 win a couple of years ago which I think was his first start for the 1st team. He did that from a free role and watching him dither last night I am now convinced he is not a winger but a no. 10 who can use his pace around the box where it counts. He is low in confidence now after these games, but will get it back later in the season if he has the right attitude and works hard. Link to comment

When he first broke into the first team he showed flashes of what he can do but he was only played sparingly and his form dipped. Was told back then by backroom staff that he's a "confidence" player. I've a lot of time for the Loon, but there comes a point that you can only carry a player for so long before making the decision to persivere or punt him out on loan and I think its the latter. Been fucking awful last couple of games and rightly hooked at half time v Livi which will probably knock his confidence further. Needs to toughen up and show that he has the balls to command a first team place or you'd have to think that he'll be another who flattered to deceive. Link to comment
