Spent a couple of 31st December afternoons in Joey Harper's, before his sticky fingers got him the dunt.

Most loved Aberdeen player in history. Nobody came close for me.

Aye, the King had sticky fingers all right.

Mine he had a kids coaching class going on back in the early 80s. Fucked off with the cheques whilst failing to complete much in the way of coaching.

Great player, hero to many back in the day, inc. yours truly

Yeah he's got a lot more kids going about than many people's wives would want known.

Top shagger. He really did score when he wanted

His stepson was a frequent White Horse drinker before he moved to Australia so often used to be appear every so often, get boiled and piss himself.

Don't remember him playing, but mind plenty stories of his boozing when he'd retired from playing. He's mates with my Dad and always says hello at Pittodrie, a nice mannie

Most folk of a certain generation claim to be mates with him. In reality, he doesn't know Jim from Tim.

Always heard from my dad and his mates there was plenty of boozing when he was still playing. Pretty sure (?) he got banned from playing for Scotland for getting on the piss.

EDIT: Yeah, I know it's wikipedia.

International career[edit]

Harper first played for Scotland against Denmark in October 1972, scoring on his debut in a 4–1 win.[5] He played in Scotland's next game but then fell out of the international reckoning, only earning a recall in 1975. By coincidence, the occasion was another away match with Denmark, but this was overshadowed by a controversial off-field incident. Harper and several teammates were given lifetime bans by the Scottish Football Association after it was alleged that they had been involved in a nightclub incident where a light was broken and an altercation followed.[6] Harper later said that he had been punished because he had returned to the team base in the same taxi as the other players.[6] The ban on two of the players, Harper and Arthur Graham, was lifted a year later.[6] Harper was selected in the Scotland squad for the 1978 FIFA World Cup. He appeared in the 1–1 draw against Iran, which was also his last international appearance, as Scotland exited in the first round.[5]

Sportsound used to do a phone in. Twenty odd year ago, I made one phone call to it and got through. Joey Harper was on with Richard Gordon.

Canna mind what my point or comment was but at the end I said, and oh, just want say to Joey, on behalf of all Aberdeen fans, you were god.

Quick as fuck he retorted with bless you my son. Me and Richard Gordon cracked up.

Aye he was a tubby Gerd Muller who liked the birds, the booze and the betting but nobody cared in those days as he kept hitting the back of the net.

Before my time was Joey but he must has seen some top quality northern lady hairy minge . The time that runs from the belly button to half way up the back and looks like Stevie May in between .
