Nations League 2020/21

04 March 2020 - 01:56 PM

Scotland will face Czech Republic, Israel and Slovakia in the UEFA Nations League this autumn.

Steve Clarke’s side were placed as second seeds into Group B2 at this evening’s draw in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Scotland enjoyed success in the inaugural UEFA Nations League competition in 2018, where they saw off Albania and Israel to top their three-team group and secure the safety net of a EURO 2020 Play-off Semi-final place, also against Israel.

Ikechi Anya was the hero for Scotland the last time they took on Czech Republic, scoring the only goal of the match in Prague in 2016 to give Gordon Strachan’s side a 1-0 victory. The two sides have played seven times over the years, Scotland winning twice and losing on four occasions.

Slovakia were also defeated 1-0 the last time Scotland faced them, a late own-goal from Martin Skrtel from an Ikechi Anya cross enough to secure the victory at Hampden in 2017. The two sides have only played each other on two occasions, with Scotland succumbing to a 3-0 defeat in their other fixture.

Scotland have played Israel on five occasions, winning four of them. A James Forrest hat-trick was enough to secure a 3-2 victory in November 2018 at Hampden in a match that clinched this month’s UEFA EURO 2020 Play-Off spot for Scotland.

Scotland Head Coach Steve Clarke: “It’s an interesting draw for us, and we are looking forward to the UEFA Nations League kicking off again this autumn.

“The competition has already proven its value to us, providing a further opportunity to qualify for UEFA EURO 2020.

“The most important thing for us at the moment, though, is that we focus fully on the Play-Off Semi-Final against Israel this month.

“It’s hugely encouraging to see that the Play-Off match is on course for a sell-out. I am sure that the fans have recognised the value of the Nations League competition and their support is invaluable to the team.”

Aberdeen vs Hibs - Saturday 7th March - evening KO?

22 January 2020 - 08:18 PM

Aberdeen and Hibernian are in talks about playing a Scottish Premiership game in March on a Saturday evening - but no agreement has yet been reached.

The sides are scheduled to play at Pittodrie on 7 March at 15:00 GMT, but Aberdeen are keen to move the game back to a later kick-off.

As it stands, the clubs have not struck an agreement and - consequently - the SPFL have not been asked for a switch.

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes says he would "support" the idea.

Aberdeen 2 - 1 St Mirren

26 November 2019 - 07:53 PM

I see the Dons are trying a match day experience on Saturday

...

Ahead of our match with St Mirren at Pittodrie on Saturday 30th November, Dons supporters will be able to enjoy some pre‐match entertainment with a difference as motorcycling legend, Dougie Lampkin MBE puts on a trademark display of stunts, tricks and outstanding skill.

Dougie is one of the greatest motorcycling champions of his age, winning twelve Trial World titles, along with numerous National and European championships including the Scottish Six Days Trial on twelve occasions too.

In recent years Dougie has also developed notoriety for breath‐taking and death‐defying stunts, often working with Red Bull to take on abandoned or intriguing locations around the world and now he is set for Pittodrie.

Dougie Lampkin’s pre‐match activity before we take on St Mirren is the first of a few planned activities between now and the end of the season as we look to maximise the potential of Pittodrie
for supporters over the next few seasons.

Ahead of Dougie’s visit, AFC Commercial Director, Rob Wicks commented, “We have had some strong feedback from supporters that they would like to see their matchday experience enhanced,
and pre‐match entertainment certainly forms part of that.

“Having worked with Dougie before I know that our supporters are in for a treat. Bring the kids along and you’ll be in for a treat as Dougie’s show is really amazing. With many motorcycle enthusiasts throughout the North‐East, it would be great to see them along at Pittodrie for the occasion too.”

Looking forward to his first visit to Pittodrie Dougie Lampkin added, “It is a little known fact that I was actually a keen footballer back in my youth, but definitely lacked the skills to play at professional level. Thankfully I was better on bike , so I am really looking forward to showing AFC fans why I decided to hang up my football boots at an early age.”

Supporters are encouraged to turn up early, with the first of three shows starting at 1.45pm outside the Richard Donald Stand and the final show set to kick‐off at 2.30pm. Look out for more
information across our channels in the build‐up to the match.

Tickets for the match with St Mirren are available now, with U12 tickets available from £6 and Adult tickets available from £22
