The Mckenna Dilemma

Recommended Posts

Nope. He made his Netherlands debut 10/10/2015, after he had left Celtic.

His Champions league matches consisted of 6 games, 5 losses and the conceding of 13 goals. He was also part of the Celtic sides who were papped out by Maribor in Malmo in Champions League qualifying. If you want to look at the Europa League, he played 8 matches for Celtic in which they conceded 16 goals.

So, all your points were pretty shit.

For the record, i was not equating McKenna's ability with that of VVD. I'm merely saying there is precedent for big fees being paid for defenders who have performed well in our league.

Any comparison taking Van Dyke as an example would also need to adjust for the approx doubling of the transfer market values since that transfer.

Chris Mclaughlin is a fucking tube....how the hell hes managing to fire it in to Eilidh Barbour is one of Scotlands biggest mysteries

Reminiscent of Jim Duffy and Kristy Gallacher!

On the article, Kris Commons - why is he being asked to chime in here? What does he have to offer here? The guy is as thick as pig $hite. It gets even more difficult when the press start rounding against us...

Another thing worthy of note here is Celtic have made us an offer for our top asset that is half what they received as their sell on fee for Van Dyke, so they can take their £3.5M and shove it right up them

no rush to sell unless its a top offer with a sell on

don't particularly enjoy watching a good ex-player playing against the Dons( not including the Rat in that comment) so better waiting for the Guff window to open & cash in big time

Daily Mail now reporting Celtic to come back with another offer including Hayes and Christie. So unless its £8M+ as well as Hayes and Christie on Perm deals they can still GTF

Would prefer Morgan and Christie should such a deal appear.

We had Hayes best years and made a bit of money off him. People need to let go.

Of course I would prefer we told Celtic to piss off rather than sell to them.

We should only be entertaining any sort of deal with Celtic that involves players coming in the opposite direction if one of those players is Leigh Griffiths. Morgan, Hayes, Allan are all nos... they can chuck Christie in to help the thumb carry the £8m up north if they want.

Griffiths 100%

You're correct about the lack of training facilities and state of the stadium, however we are where we are.

I'd fully expect that if we were to receive any large transfer fees, then a large chunk of that cash would go towards building the new facilities. Money won't just magic up out of think air. How do you think Hibs have managed to build theirs?

When did hibs build a new ground?

They never, they redeveloped over several years, something our builder chairman decided not to do for some reason.

As you say "we are where we are"  and a large chunk of any large transfer fee would unfortunately go towards sorting that out and not invested in the playing staff.

Mckenna won't be going anywhere unless we get a ridiculous offer. The lads head is screwed on. It's been said by mcinnes and mckenna that he knows he has plenty to learn, he needs to play first team football and then as mcinnes has said he'll head off to the EPL.

Mckenna doesn't need to fuck about going to celtic just like he doesn't have to fuck about in the English championship.

From Aberdeens point of view if they have not learnt anything from the sale of van dijk then they will get stung. Selling mckenna to celtic has the potential to do us out of significant money in the future. A sell on clause with them would be worth a fraction of what it could be in England were mckenna to really excel down there.

As for a player swap. Stupid money + Christie and Griffiths or tell them to poke it.

Exactly.

We want a big fee from an EPL club (maybe next summer) with potential bigger sell on fee in future from them.

Rather than a shitty fee from Celtic now & a smaller sell on fee when they sell him down south in future.

Cut out the middle fiddlers

Fuck Celtic & all who sail in the cunt.

Of course it is! as most transfer fees are, tell me how rangers rate Morelos at £10M plus??? or even worse Celtic talked about between £30 and £40 Million for Dembele??? what are they based on? its the owner clubs valuation of their assets which is exactly what we have done with McKenna. He is Aberdeen's most valuable asset for years and he is contracted to us for the next 5 years and is fresh from Captaining both Aberdeen and Scotland at both under 21 and full level in the last year. they can fuck off with their £3.5M

Who the fuck are you?

Ones who have played well in the champions league and on 20k a week, yeah

Not ones who have been shown up by Sam Vokes and on 3k a week

Played well while conceding > 2 goals per game? Everyone else in his team must've been absolutely shocking...

McKenna wasn't "shown up", no matter how many times you say it, it won't be true.

The built a training ground. They also, as you note, redeveloped their existing ground.
