I think that was more to do with the fact that he collapsed in tears around the centre circle the second Van Der Sar saved the pen that won the shoot out. It looked like he was going to be the villain as he was the only Man United player to miss in the shoot out with Terry having a pen to win it for Chelsea. All the United players ran towards Van Der Sar whereas Ronaldo collapsed in a heap in tears no doubt in utter relief that his missed pen hadn't cost them the cup as he probably thought it was going to do a couple of minutes earlier.

 

Not saying Ronaldo isn't a bit of a cunt he is but the natural reaction when your team wins a penalty shoot out is to run straight to the player who either scored the winning pen or saved it. Ronaldo just seemed to collapse in sheer relief his teammates probably didn't even notice.
