Sadly they both are ruled out of the reckoning by getting caught too early in their spree. To be a true great you need a consistent run of killing over decades. For that reason I shall opt for the Green River Killer Gary Ridgway. An honourable mention to Shipman as well. Link to comment

One chap whose real name escapes me, but was nicknamed "The Chessboard Killer" recorded his kills by marking off the squares on a chess board, he got convicted of 50 or so, but confessed to 63. He could have just shouted "BOO" at half of them. Should lose points for that. Bonus points if any were hookers though, a good serial killer should always do a few hookers. Got to be Jack for me.
