Despite the fact weve been getting decent results away from home, changes are required if we are to improve on the last two disgusting performances.

I'd go

Langfield

Hodgkiss Mair Diamond Mulgrew

Young Severin Duff Aluko

Mackie Miller

What needs to change in the central midfield. This will also necessitate changes elsewhere as Seve has to play there.

Only chage I'd make to your team Zappa is Considine for Mair.

I would go for

------------------Langfield------------------

Hodgkiss---Mair---Diamond---Mulgrew

Young------Severin---Kerr---------Aluko

--------------Mackie---Wright--------------

Subs: Bossu, Considine, Foster, Mcdonald, Kerr, Miller Maguire

Though I think that JC will Play

--------------------Bossu--------------------

Foster---Severin---Diamond---Mulgrew

Young---Mcdonald---Kerr----------Aluko

---------------Miller---Mackie--------------

I have to say I like the idea of moving Aluko up front and Mulgrew to LM but I am not sure about foster at LB. I think I would rather have Stuart Smith at LB but I am not sure that this is the game to be blooding youth players. If we do blood some youth players and lose some fans will never forgive them and they will never be accepted at the club.

As Duff, Mair, JDV, and Young were playing for the reseves to day does that rule them out of the game against Kilmarnock, if so will JC go for this team then:

--------------------Bossu--------------------

Foster----Severin----Diamond----Mulgrew

Maguire---McDonald----Kerr---------Aluko

---------------Mackie---Miller---------------

Wonder if he'll go back on his promise to start Bossu in the CIS Cup now?

Langfield

Foster Mair Diamond Mulgrew

JDV Kerr Severin Aluko

Miller Maguire

Would be happy if this was the team. We're crying out for creativity in the middle of the park and JDV is the best of a bad bunch on the right (Young has no creativity at all, McDonald has shown something but is still very negative, Duff seems to be out of contention for a starting place, in no way is Maguire a midfielder... etc.) Also, it's easy to forget that Severin posed an attacking threat when he first came to the club and he still has the potential to be creative with his passing/hit a decent shot given the opportunity. We can't expect to create bags of chances when three of our four midfielders are Young, McDonald and Kerr.

Good to see some optimism on here for a change. Can't envisage any problems getting by Kilmarnock on Wednesday night. The press have not said much about their performance yesterday but I thought they were very ordinary indeed against the tims and hopefully a certain man watching from the Rugby Park stand, Jimmy Calderwood, has taken note of this so we can exploit their glaring weaknesses (Slow central defence, slow full backs, etc.).

Hope for the best, but expect the worst.

I like everyone is hoping for a Dons win, it’s just that I expect that we will lose.

But you never know we are away from home so we don’t have the “Pittodrie factor” to deal with, so 3 – 0 Aberdeen Wright hat-trick. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I'd take getting knocked out the League Cup if we went all the way in the Scottish Cup (and for Jimmy to be sacked). If I could be promised that, then I'm all for Aberdeen getting knocked out. If I can't be promised that, then Come on the Dons (but nae you Jimmy)!!!!!!!!

If JC has any sense he'll start Langfield - however my team for the day would be

He'll start

Langfield

Hodgkiss Diamond Mair Smith

Young Seve Mulgrew

Miller Wright Aluko

- give Wright a chance to redeem himself - stick Aluko up front where he can do the most damage and mirror the Tims tactics of long balls - hopefully well directed to force them back and keep the pressure on them - heaven knows the best form of defence is attack.

Not a hope in hell of it happening mind.

Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple - Bill Shankly.

Thought Stu Smith looked good against the hun reserves and thought after the Scumdee game we should maybe try Aluko up front. I'd be happy with that (changing foster for Smith).

Thats what I thought, also heard he plays through the middle alongside Walker for the England youths.

Also nowadays fullbacks are generally wingbacks and thats certainly the case with Mulgrew.

Aluko can play in as a striker - coming in off the left side - certainly would have no worries about him in that role. He has pace and ball skills and knows where the goals are - let him use those skills where they will be most effective.

Mulgrew I confess a bit more of a punt but he has shown some ability going forward and the rest of the midfield this season have been so poor and we need to be more aggressive to get anywherre I think I can justify the move - yeah we could play Mulgrew left back and McDonald or Duff in midfield but they're not really creating much. If we sit back against Killie we'll lose.

The best game Mulgrew has played this season was probably for Scotland under 21s as a .... left winger :itch-chin:

I think Aberdeen should play this formation every week, with maybe changing the personel week to week, but for the Killie Game it should be: -

----------------Langfield----------------

------------------Seve-------------------

----------Diamond-----Mair-----------

Hodgekiss----------------------Mulgrew

------------------Kerr--------------------

------MacDonald--------Young-----------

----------Wright---------Aluko-----------

With Kerr holding. If he isnít performing put Seve in there and put Zander in his position and put Conisdine in with Mair.

Hodgekiss & Mulgrew wing backs. This gives Mulgrew the opportunity to get forward and put telling balls in, which is his strength.

And MacDonald and Young (with Duff replacing either) supporting the strikers, but also tracking back to help defensively. I think one of Aberdeen's biggest problems is that they are not getting enough players forward thus limiting their scoring opportunities, but this way they will get plenty of men forward and if the two strikers get pulled out wide then you still have the men coming thru from midfield to make up the xtra men in the box

If Wright doesn't perform in this game, put Miller in for him, same formation.

This formation gives us more options and plays to our players strengths.
