The thing with Hartley is that yes he's done a great job with Alloa, but look at Paterson, done a great job at Caley in a lower league and then once he took over here it was a job too far for him and that's what i worry about here. At the same time i suppose we don't want someone who's past it either. Really tough choice like.

Out of the list that's there i would say Collins, despite being out of work for a wee while i think he did a great job with Hibs and tbh we need someone who knows not only the Scottish game but other leagues inside out, his knowledge of England and even French football can be beneficial in scouring new players

I've never understood why so many are afraid of a lower league manager just because Paterson failed with us. It doesn't mean every lower league manager will do the same.

I voted for hartley.Next appointment has to someone who is there for the long haul. I think it could be career suicide for adams to come here. Still any appointment gets my full support.

What we really need in this vote is someone to encourage everyone to vote for someone daft that nobody wants or likes, so that it cocks up the original intention of the vote, and makes a mess of the results, and subsequently the thread.

Anyone any ideas who might do this?

It's an extension he was signing, on top of the year he had left.

I voted for Butcher. He's proven that not only can he bring exciting young players through but he can also persuade some of them to sign on for longer deals than we manage with our talented youngsters. When's the last time there was any similar feel-good factor at Pittodrie, among the players and/or fans?

As for his playing history that was a long time ago, and the club he played for doesn't even exist anymore.

On the basis none of the options were a Keeper player-manager I voted 'Other'

Seriously, Adams or Mixu although my gut feel was he got lucky admittedly at both Hibs and Killie.

Shiels - Wanker

McCall, Hun loving wanker with the unfortunate quality of being quite a decent bloke actually. Too expensive anyway.

Butcher. See above.

Avril - the Avril of you're all a shower of cheating weegie minks - to be considered if Adams and Mixu turn the gig down.
the Avril of I've got an office at hampden and I'm pure dead important - fuck off. Come to think of it, its ever since he started wearing specs...Come to think of it mk II, at least interview him. Q1. What's the real crack with Campbell Ogilvie? How much is the monthly retainer from Ibrox to hampden? How often has it bounced recently? Hmmm, playing 6-4-0 what were your thoughts there, and could it be repeated? (interview ended following Craig Brown's first foray into questioning).

Aye, if it transpires that Adams is not coming for whatever reason than the only other candidate on that list I'd be happy with is Craig Levein.

We need to get serious, not speculate on someone who might be up to the job.

No, it does not, this is a total myth.

I'm leaving it here because you are speaking from a position of ignorance using information heard third hand from others who share your unwarranted scepticism.

Wow, yes, my ignorance from actually watching Aberdeen play as opposed to sitting in my house saying its to cold.

I've seen us play County home and away, and watched the 2nd home game on the box, so nothing to do with other peoples opinions. In their HOME game, they sat in and barely crossed the halfway line, I wasn't surprised to see them do that in the first game at Pittodrie, but I was surprised to see them do it at home.

I'd like to point out that Stoney seems to be a decent bloke.
I met him at Tynecastle last season and he seemed spot on to me.
So I'd lay off the abuse to him lads.

You are still forming your opinion based from a position of ignorance, with all due respect to however many games you attend, it disna mean you ken anything about football even if you go to every game of the season.

We have better players than they do. So he sets up to contain us?

That's not defensive, simply being shrewd with his tactics, which worked, meaning he was right to do so.

Number of games watched doesn't guarantee an informed opinion, but theres certainly a correlation, your assumption is its ignorance, as it differs from your view, which is even less informed, theres a flaw there somewhere.

It did indeed work, but then you go back to is that what we want, JC bored the shit out of us but tended to get results, most of us had had enough, and called for him to go.

I voted other because not one person on that list really excites me.
Did come across this line recently while browsing wiki, so I will give my vote to him..

"the attacking brand of football played under Antoine Kombouaré's guidance brought acclaim from both fans and writers for the capital club"

Has Ando done any of his coaching badges? They could get away with him if Brooner was still around. Unlikely but a possibility. Not saying it's the right move but I would like to see the club take a gamble on someone who we don't know what we might get from.

I voted Hartley would of the list.

I don't think Adams will come to Aberdeen with the current board in place.
