The Ryan Fraser Clause

Recommended Posts

McInnes will not be happy at a transfer request as he will see it as a slight on him. I assume he has probably assured McKenna that he won't stand in the way of a move if the value is right. So a transfer request suggests the player doesn't feel he is honouring or will honour that.

That said, McInnes has twice mulled over and ultimately rejected moves. Both haven't been rejected out of loyalty but more he didn't see them as a step in the right direction. Might have been at better times in the year but feel it is difficult for him to take the high ground.

Interesting though. Usually Derek is quite good at protecting a player because (as in this case) he can see the downside for the player if the attempt to flush out some interest fails which it seems to have in this case. Not what I’m seeing here though. Virtually throwing the boy to the terracing wolves.

Throwing him to the wolves by saying he has sympathy for him, and he has such high regard for him and he is the best of the lot personality wise and he wants the best for him?

If he signs a new contract then the sell on fee is very much still in place. The sell on fee remains in place whilst he is at Bournemouth regardless of any new contracts. I reckon come January if his form is still very good then he will either be sold or sign a new deal depending on Bournemouth's league position(for example if they think keeping him and letting him go for nothing would keep them in the league). They could still coup around 10-15 million in January from certain clubs who may be desperate for him in that window. He might just sign a new deal though with a release clause of 25 million to go in the summer.

Not a hope in hell he will go for £10million plus in January. At best he's £1-2 million at that point....a club would just sign him on a pre-contract and then offer Bournemouth a paltry sum to get him in 6 months early. If Bournemouth agree....great (but shite for us)…...if not he sees out his contract and joins his new club free gratis next summer (even worse for us).

I'm not convinced his sell on fee does carry forward to a new Bournemouth contract. I get what others have said...what would stop a club awarding a new contract fairly quickly in order to try to negate a sell on fee in an original contract. But I reckon the sell on fee would follow through on any new contract only up to the point an original contract ran out. But obviously......I hope it does as this would now seem to be our only chance of getting a fairly sizeable bonus payout.

That way a club could just sign a player on a one year contract with option to extend at end of season.

Absolute nonsense. Down south is a completely different ball game to up here. All you need is 2 or 3 clubs interested in him and also desperate for a player of his calibre in January to help push top 4 etc. Once you have a couple of clubs interested even with six months to go you could still demand 10-15 million comfortably so one of the clubs could secure his signature at that time. Of course Fraser could reject the move and sign a pre contract but these things don't happen down south these days with players his age.  Very very rare occurrence a player moves for nothing to another club these days in the premiership.

How long has he been away from us? I would have thought he must be into a second contract down there by now.

Does a sell-on clause last as long as a player stays with the same club?

Would depend on whether an expiration was written into the clause.

If there wasn't then you'd imagine the clause lasts as long as he stays at the club.

If there was then the answer would be has the clause expired.

You can write whatever you want in a contract, within reason.

If you can get a player to sign a contract that demands he dress like Mickey Mouse every game... and you get the relevant paperwork from the Disney Corporation... then your new number 9 is coming out dressed like a cartoon character every match day.

The kid's would fucking love it.

In reality £100k should be those tinpot cunts record transfer fee not one of their players weekly wage

English football

I know it’s absolutely crazy. And to think 23 years ago Newcastle signed Shearer for £15 million and that was bonkers money at that time regardless of how great a player he was but now it’s just outrageous transfer fees and wages

In the papers saying Bournemouth are offering him 100,000 a week to stay beyond this season.

Unless i'm mistaken, if he extends his contract, the sell-on clause between Bournemouth and Abedeen would remain active.

So on that basis, hopefully he takes a 5 year, 100k contract then gets sold for 20 billion during the next window.
