I don't see a situation where we will ever have two specialist RB's and two specialist LB's on our books. Due to budget constraints McInnes prefers to buy players who can cover multiple positions and can fill in at full back when the specialist player is unavailable.

 

So unless we have a full back or two break through from the youth team I don't see the current situation changing too much. However if Logan plays shit consistently after the winter break there is nothing to stop McInnes playing Hoban at RB.

Agree he’s not shit but he has been woeful at times this season and his attempt at stopping Edouard for the 4th goal was terrible.

Logan consistently gets beaten too easily when someone runs at him and cuts inside. It's always been a flaw in his game. He tends to back off too much and rarely try's to shepherd the attacking player down his outside.

He's been a fantastic servant to the club and been well looked after. We're as good as he'll get.

But i would not be averse to a replacement coming in. Since he came back into the team after his suspension at the beginning of the season, he's been directly involved in the loss of several goals and just hasn't really looked at the races.

Time to seriously consider his position imo.

I’m not his biggest fan either, especially the wide boy act but in fairness he looks much calmer with a proper right sided CH next to him, something that’s not been the case since what, August? There’s more good than bad from him in my opinion. Bigger problems than right back.

Aye he had a good run when Devlin was fit. A bit of competition wouldn't be a bad thing but as others have said McInnes doesn't seem to carry 2 natural full backs for either side.

Logan is absolutely all over the place defensivley. Imo it goes back to a final v celtic few years ago where he constantly backed off and they scored. Since this he's had so many poor games. He has had some good games as well but he's wildly inconsistent. We should be constantly trying to improve every position.

A lack of competition for his position has to have made him complacent and he always seems to backtrack when an opponent

runs at him, simply letting him get nearer to our goal instead of actually putting a challenge in. He’s not the only one guilty of that and it should have been coached out of him.

We are but he's still struggling to improve left back, striker and central midfield. Might be a while before he gets round to right back.

He can please himself as long as he gets the required results.  Would be handy if there were some youth players knocking on the door for the full back positions but we don't seem to be producing them just now

Shay has been brilliant for us in his time here and I have a lot of time for him as a player and someone who loves the club more than most. He stuck by us when he had decent offers from down south to be closer to his family. 

 

However I do feel at his age it would be worthwhile now getting in someone to challenge him and ultimately replace him in the future. We tried in the summer for Naismith of County but failed and then seemed to not approach for any other right full back. I'm not sure if he seen Hoban as cover for that position and will see him as the cover come january. 

 

Not many decent right backs about in this country just now.
