Would take this if it's the 'here to do a serious job' Gordon Strachan and not the idiot who's moe interested in making funny sound bites about yoghurts and velocity.

Hopefully he doesn't go down the same route he did at Boro and fill the squad with Scottish players.

Gordon Strachan was a relatively funny manager who would make the odd brilliant comment like the one above.

He then became aware of his reputation as a bit of a comedian and became completely unable to answer any question without one of his quips. Quips which got more and more tedious as time went on. By the time he got the gig at the Tims he was unbearable.

As long as he doesn't use this position to try and further his career in comedy, then I think this could be about as good an appointment as we could've hoped for.

Given the Scotland team we have the jokes will more than likely be the players on the pitch... If only Niall McGinn was Scottish...

All we need is some sensible team selection. Like Dorrans and Burke getting a chance and punting deadwood like James Morrison and Kris Commons.

Would also be nice to see Kevin McNaughton given another chance in the Scotland squad for the upcoming friendly.

From 2007-2012 I would have agreed with you. I believe he's not been playing as regularly this term.

1st game at Pittodrie. I lost interest in Scotland a long time ago when I stopped knowing who most of the team were.
As as been mentioned, here's to better team selections.

I just hope my interest in the national side can be rekindled.

Really disliked Strachan when he was Manager of Celtic, hopefully I can warm to him again.

He is one of our greatest ever players, after all.

They’ll slip into liquidation within the next couple of weeks with a new company emerging but 140 years of history, triumph and tears, will have ended.

No matter how Charles Green attempts to dress it up, a newco equals a new club. When the CVA was thrown out Rangers as we know them died. They were closed and a newco must start from scratch.

Never let the bastards forget it

Thought he was funny when he was down south, then realised he was an arsehole when he was at Celtic, also doesn't seem to like Aberdeen very much, so can't say I'm excited by this, but they weren't queuing up for the job, hope it works out.

got to say im nae happy at all, but thats no change to my usual feelings towards the national team. he's a utterly terrible and useless manager. but as previously mentioned, surely cant be as bad as levein was! id still much have preferred a foreign gaffer, oh well. good luck to the little unfunny firecrotch i suppose.

I'm happy enough with the appointment.

I am hearing that it will be Gary Mcallister as his assistant, I'm happy with this if it happens.

strachan has won things as a club manager and both strachan and Mcallister have numerous caps for scotland and should be well respected by all

Where is this Strachan doesn't like Aberdeen story coming from? Is it because when he came back with Celtic he didnt kiss the Pittodrie turf to satisfy the hardcore Dons fans??

Think he was a shit manager and this is an uninspired and thoroughly obvious appointment. Like us appointing McGhee.

Hope it doesn't end similarly but think it will.

I'm happy enough with this appointment.

Like others have said, hopefully it'll rekindle my enthusiasm for the National Team.

Don't really care if he doesn't like Aberdeen.
As long as he picks players that are worthy of selection.

The Northern Lights of old Aberdeen

Mean home sweet home to me

The Northern Lights of Aberdeen

Are what I long to see

I've been a wanderer all of my life

And many a sight I've seen

God speed the day when l'm on my way

To my home in Aberdeen!!

Rather he does that than do what Levein did and fill half the squad with Englishmen!!
