If the Black Cats do come calling and Derek does depart who will be our next manager?
Tommy Wright, Paul Hartley, John Hughes, Alan Stubbs, Jack Ross, A.N.Other.
Personally I have a lot of time for Tommy Wright working miracles at Saints on a shoestring. Thoughts?

Certainly think that Dons job will attract a decent quality of interest. Still believe whatever happens over summer player / manager wise we will remain a force capable of withstanding the threat of Ryan F'n Jack and his new Hun pals.

Maybe when DM leaves he can be consulted on who his successor should be.
However he may deliberately chose someone shite so that his time in charge looks better.
That's what I would do .
Joking aside I think it'll be McLeish.

That's a depressing list of candidates. Let's just hope it's none of them if that day does come.

What have people got against Tommy Wright?  He's obviously a very good coach, he has won a cup and look at Shaughnessy, he is one of the best defenders in the league now.

The problem with Tommy Wright is that his brand of football, whilst relatively productive, is utterly disgusting. Would you part with your hard earned cash to watch that every week? I wouldn't and listening to the tales of the struggle to get fans through the gates would suggest Wright was a no-no.
Saints are ugly, agricultural and very painful to watch. Ultimately depends on what you are after.

His style of football is boring. His interviews are boring. He looks boring. He's boring.

"He has won a cup" - aye, so has Danny Lennon. Their cup run was Livingston, Forfar, Raith Rovers, Aberdeen then Dundee United.

Wright can hardly produce Brazil 70 on a bottom 6 budget. Apparently his teams are far more entertaining than DM's Saints ever were.

Fair enough. I don't think he'd play like that if he had the likes of Hayes at his disposal but accept he would hardly be an exciting option
