That's just it though, he's absolutely not a "solid 7/10 most fixtures".

He's probably a 5 or 6 in most games this season and last.

He's also a first team pick regardless of how he plays.

No pressure on his position.

Perhaps needs competition for his place to ensure that he's fighting for it.

Performances been a bit iffy for a wee while

Do they?

Who are the 5 or 6 first team regulars that need replaced before him?

1 or 2 CBS for Reynolds and possibly McKenna leaving

LB for Lowe when he’s away

2 CM’s with Shinnie possibly away and Forrester and Tansey already gone.

1 or 2 wingers with GMS possibly away and McGinn getting on a but.

A number 10 if we can’t persuade Stewart to stay permently.

Agree that Logan has been in gradual decline for the last season and a half ish, probably because in his whole time here he’s not once had any decent competition for his place.

His new wife is from Aberdeen, so he won’t be going anywhere in a hurry I wouldn’t think.

For me, this should be his last season

Matches are made up of lots of little moments and Logan's moments are costing us

Far too lax and his distribution is honking

What did it cost us today?

9 times out of 10 he has no other option than to lump it forward because there's no movement ahead of him or any midfielder making himself available for a short pass.

Try going to matches to see the full picture you clown.

You should just stick to commenting on other posters opinions.

The way McInnes assembles his squad means that whoever are the first choice full backs won't have that week in week out pressure put on their positions because he can't afford 4 specialist full backs if he wants to maintain the level of quality he wants elsewhere.

What he tries to do is have a specialist full back for each side (this season it's Logan and Lowe) and his back up defenders tend to be primarily centre backs who can play at full back (Considine and Hoban). He also has a defensive centre mid who can fill in (badly) at RB (Ball). In emergencies he knows he has Shinnie who can fill in at LB. This situation does make things easier for the likes of Logan to keep his place even if he has a couple of bad games. Also we don't seem to have any youngsters at full back knocking on the door the way we do in other positions.

Unlike say the huns we can't afford 4 specialist full backs like they seem to be able to (Barisic, Wallace, Tavernier and Flanagan). Then again they probably have double the amount of midfield players that we have as well.

I agree and also agree that is the right way to do things

The problem in my opinion though now is that Logan isn't good enough anymore to be our primary right back

You may well be right. But if McInnes is going to sign another specialist RB I think it will be to coincide with Logan leaving. Not sure when his contract runs out.

Logan hasn't been quite poor enough for McInnes to contemplate replacing him now. He trusts Logan and the fact that he is never injured definitely works in his favour.

What, because I think Logan is now the weak link in an ever improving side he is my "hate figure" and I'm, by association a Celtic fan now?

You're lucky I don't school people on here these days

MT is right. The best way to improve a team is to identify the weak links and look to improve on them.

Logan has been very inconsistent over the past couple of years and appears to be more interested in social media than playing at the top of his game.

I might argue that some other players fall into the weak link category and may be in the queue before Logan.

I maintain that Jordan Jones is overrated. His goals / assists stats are really poor and in every game i've seen him play he's been ineffective. I'm quite happy that we've managed to secure Stewart, whilst the Huns got Jones. In the same way that the Huns thought they were buying our best player in Jack, when everyone thought they'd have gone in for McLean.

Its highly possible Stewart won't play for us v a hun team containing Jones.

Atrophy.  He's been with us five years this week.

And for most of that time, there has been no competition for his position.  We shouldn't be critical, he's had a terrific run.  His stats are eerily consistent, playing 40 something games and scoring 4 goals per season from 2014 to 2017 until last season when his goals tally dropped to 2.

Would have expected someone else to come in and challenge for RB by now, maybe needs to happen.

He used to be suspect defensively but one of our better assets going forward.

Seems to be a complete role reversal at the moment.

Agreed, his speed/energy going forward seems to have dipped, not sure if it’s a change in tactics from DM or if he’s just adapting his game with age? Do you think he makes more tackles higher up the pitch now when opposition teams are starting a break?

Could be.

Celtic league game aside, he doesn't seem to make as many daft decisions.

Dont know if its just Aberdeen but full back certainly seems to be an area we try to make a saving on. I certainly can't think of us ever having more than one left back or one right back at a time. Quite often we don't even have 1 and just throw a Shaughnessy or McArdle there
