Defence Of Catholic Teaching

Though it flies in the face of all secular, scientific and psychosexual orthodoxy, the leaders of Catholicism (as many as 80% of them gay themselves, according to a new book by sociologist Frederic Martel) persist in equating same-sex adult sexual attraction with the violent rape of children by grown men.

Perhaps the most misleading excuse given is that Catholicism is just the same as others, including the BBC, that have faced charges over harbouring those who abuse children. However, a range of studies suggests that Catholicism is different. The number of paedophiles found in the male population at large is usually put at anywhere up to 4%. Yet the recent Australian Royal Commission on child sex abuse by Catholic priests suggests the figure in clerical ranks is as high as 7%. That’s almost double, and should be ringing alarm bells.

Activists for survivors of clerical sexual abuse have reacted furiously after Pope Francis failed to promise a “zero tolerance” approach to paedophile priests and the bishops who cover up their crimes as he closed a landmark summit at the Vatican.

Francis vowed that the Roman Catholic church would “spare no effort” to bring abusers to justice and would not cover up or underestimate abuse, but a significant part of the pontiff’s closing speech focused on the prevalence of child abuse across society.

Citing data, he said that the majority of cases arose within families and that the perpetrators of abuse were “primarily parents, relatives, husbands of child brides and teachers”. He also said that online pornography and sex tourism amplified the issue.

“Our work has made us realise once again that the gravity of the scourge of the sexual abuse of minors is, and historically has been, a widespread phenomenon in all cultures and societies,” he said. “I am reminded of the cruel religious practice, once widespread in certain cultures, of sacrificing human beings – frequently children – in pagan rites”

While the pope acknowledged that the occurrence of the sexual abuse of children within the Catholic church was even more “scandalous” due to its incompatibility “with her moral authority and ethical credibility”, his speech failed to reflect the concrete action that survivors of sex abuse were hoping for.

A bit of whataboutery from Pope

Was 3rd highest honcho within this organisation not too long ago...in fact as recently as December when he was first found guilty but like most things the CC sought to hush it up, by using the courts. Wondered why he fought so hard to give victims their say or follow up their accusations...not really. The 'Melbourne Response'?

Robert Richter has apologised for his “terrible choice of phrase” in describing George Pell’s sexual abuse of a 13-year-old choirboy as “vanilla sexual penetration”.

The queen’s counsel has been widely criticised for the remark, which came during a plea hearing for the cardinal who is now behind bars awaiting sentence for orally raping the boy, and molesting him and another 13-year-old after a Sunday mass in 1996.

Richter was attempting to note there were no aggravating features to Pell’s offending, at a time when he was newly installed as archbishop of Melbourne at St Patrick’s cathedral.

“This is no more than a plain, vanilla sexual penetration case where a child is not volunteering or actively participating,” he said.

But on Thursday he issued an apology after a “sleepless night reflecting”.

I'm not going to read all that stuff in the opening post, can't be arsed. I was brought up as a Catholic and abhor the simple fact that my parents and teachers at school had the temerity to try to brainwash me with all of their God shite. Like every other religion Catholicism is nothing more than a cult. Just so happens that some cults are larger and more successful than others. The cult of Jesus Christ or Muhammad are no less ridiculous than the cult of Ron L Hubbard.

Besides, everybody knows the only true god is Willy Wonka.

Is this the most fucked up 'Catholic Rapes Children' story yet?

Catholic Rapes Children and Sky Is Blue

It's probably not, but it's still fairly fucked up, I trust you'll agree.

It may well be, but important to note that the man raped the boys because he is a predatory homosexual, not because he is a catholic.

This requires a bit of intellectual honesty to admit, of course, which has not always been your strong point.

Meanwhile, a 7 year old boy dressed in high heels and a skirt has won an award at the LA pride parade, for his "fierce strut".

(note the media prefer to call him a "Trans Child" rather than a "boy")

And society whoops and cheers at this - it seems problems intellectual honesty are widespread.

So are you saying that boy is asking for it?

I am sure your parents meant well.  Passing on standards and values is fundamentally what parents do - it was no more outrageous for them to introduce to Christian values, than it was for them to teach you to say please or thank you, or (possibly) to raise you an an aberdeen fan.

That you have elected to reject these values, proves that you were not brain-washed and so don't resent them over it.

If you are a similar age to me, your experience of Catholicism in could probably be described mere fluff.

I would imagine (authentic) Christianity is more coherent and intellectually satisfying than the cult of "nothing made everything for no reason" but each to their own.
