Do You Have Kids/ Would You Recommend Having Kids?

The moment your child is born is the best feeling you will ever get, I've necked loads of amazing drugs in my time but nothing came close to that. When I went out for a smoke just as dawn was breaking after she was born, I sat down on the grass outside the hospital and never felt a feeling like it.

I'm now split with the ex but my daughter is a constant, she didn't hesitate moving from the family home to come with me, she's my best buddy in the World, without her my life wouldn't have much point.

Mine wasn't planned but as Dayts says after they're born the feeling is better than any drug i've ever had.

Changed my life completely, but ultimately for the better.  Don't get married though, that's shit.

Best time of my life has been since leaving the wife.  Still get to see the wee one heaps but heaps of time to myself to carry out the bedding of various ladies and have nights out/ trips away etc.

My opinion may change when my daughter becomes of an age when young scoundrels try and lead my daughter down the wrong path.  Then I will want to kill every male in the world if they so much as look at her.

Is she on POF yet? I'm getting bored with my go to one's. Thanks in advance.

Got 3. Only have kids if you want them and don't resent the sacrifices you have to make to provide for them. Being able to provide for them properly is a must in my book. At times you might think what if, but then they achieve something, however small, you quickly forget it.

Do I regret having kids? No. I had them at an age which suited me and had done a whole heap of partying and travelling without a care in the world. It's funny, a lot of kids I went to school with, their kids are 'off their hands' (they will never be off your hands, btw) while I have only just had my daughter leave the house to go to uni. A mate who's in this position often tries to wind me up because now he's free and he can do whatever he wants. So what? He's too fucking old and with less energy to go mental. I did all that shit when I was young when he was changing shitty nappies and doing all the other stuff. I think I would have resented that. I wasted my youth because as far as I'm concerned that's what it's there for.

End of the day, how you feel about having kids has got fuck all to do with anyone else.

Bit of a contradictory post. 'Do it when you want',but if you do it a different way/time to me it's wrong.

@

Just do what the fuck what you want and who cares what others think.  Look at Bluto, happy as a pig in shit with his café trawling boozing. Be  @@Bluto10

A lot of pressure these days for young lads to get a house, get married, have kids etc. Seen many of my pals bow to the pressure and just do it because they think it’s the right thing to do. Fuck that. Totally agree with the sentiment of do whatever the fuck you want and don’t put a timeline on it. For gods sake have fun before you’re tied down.

Aye have fun in your 20's, wait till your in your 30's. Pretty much what we did. Whenever is best for you TBF.

Childcare is a cunt though. It's significantly more than monthly mortgage payment!

Got 2. They're amazing.

Aye they're a responsibility but they're really worth it.

Eh feel for folk with sick kids and the like. That would destroy me.

As for the birth, eh got bollocked by the midwife at the first for wanting to sleep in the bed next to the birthing contraption when it was all kicking off. Eh had been up for 60 hours straight and was shattered ffs.

Do they honk as much as you do or do they take after their mother's side?

I have 2 and want a 3rd.

Its the best thing in the world, because it is what life is all about.  It is what we are ordered to, the fruit of our relationships. Accordingly then, it is exceptionally fulfilling.

Watching them grow and discover things keeps you young.  You see the world through fresh eyes.  Everything is astonishing to them and worthy of investigation. Astonishment is what adults lack in their own lives and can lead them to become jaded and cynical.

The scales fall from your eyes and you see what is really important in life.  Not work, status or wealth, but gumsy smiles, dirty faces, runny noses, giggles, cuddles and carrying on.

Sure, it can be trying, tiring and expensive - but a great serenity and bliss over-ride these.

There's no right answer to "when?" beyond the obvious basic requirements of the mother and father in a committed relationship and able to provide a child's material needs.

Bollocks but zero shock you believe that.

Can’t be better than a snowball, surely?

Fuck min you're right, probs told this story before but once stood in the Hoochi after a snowball and thought if I die right now I don't care, this feeling will never be topped, it was a stop the World moment, they were the best, nothing came close.

Agreed. First eccy I took as well. The Orb, Barrowlands 93. Didn’t realise it at the time but that was as good as it would ever get.

My daughter was born on the 9th.  First for me, but it was a great feeling.  Still getting used to her being at home (and back to work today, so now to get used to any form of routine with that), but has been great so far.  Give me a few months and I might have changed my mind.  At 33, I am older than I ever expected to be when I would first have a child.

I wind up my daughter with the amusing anecdote of how her Mum had an epidural for her birth which lets everything go,so she came into this world in a river of shit.

She loves that...

Similar story,  my youngest was born in a birthing pool and often have the kids rolling about laughing when I tell them the story of the little green fishing net kept

beside the pool and how  the midwife was fishing for little brown fishes during the birth.

I don't suppose there is a wrong or right answer to having kids.

They can give you the highest highs and the lowest lows. If you have any selfish left in you probably best

not to have kids yet.

I wasn't fussed about kids but I knew my wife wanted and knew it would make her happy,

That’s another good thing about your own kids, they generally think you’re hilarious.

Dad jokes work a treat before they hit the teenage years then you become an embarrassing annoying cunt.

It is an act of social responsibility.

Scotland is a good example of the serious problems a country runs into when it does not have a high enough birth rate.  Ageing population, lower tax take, strain on services etc.

More and more immigration is needed to offset the gap - the SNP always gurning that they don't control immigration here.  They never mention birthrate, as that would mean having to admit the modern system doesn't actually work.

The irony is that people choose not to have kids (or not enough kids) then they moan about immigrants / "darkies".

Even the standard "box tick" family of 2 kids is not enough, the minimum rate needed to maintain a population is actually about 2.1 kids per family, to offset those who dont have kids etc.

If you look in history books about the development of nations, birth rate is a central data point of paramount important. Yet the oafs in politics these days never mention it.  I know of only Hungary as a modern nation taking direct action to increase its birth rate, as opposed to just importing stacks of dangerous muslims etc.

Ultimately a nation which cannot sustain itself population-wise is the sign of a decaying, failed culture.

But increase you and multiply, and go upon the earth and fill it

Genesis 9:7  (Douay Rhemis).
