Scotland needs to get the fuck away from it all and have a clean break. The world is changing and the UK is only going to get worse the way it stands.

Fair points. I just think we are better in a position where we can fall back on the UK, and the States.

 

My opinion of course and I am not impoverished or needing help, but I fail to see how going on our own would galvanise more cash and be able to help poor fucks that need it.

 

There is not going to a magic wand that will start helping poor people that need it and indeed we don’t have say the London City stock exchange to fall back on if the oil or some other industry goes tits up. At least as part of a bigger picture you are diversifying your assets.

Also I gather you've heard of the Barnett formula? Indy Scotland would have a massive deficit requiring massive austerity measures, we would also have greatly reduced tax revenues. Fair enough if you just want to do it anyway but seems a bit daft to me, particularly when you want to immediately join EU and give up fishing rights among other things. Economic forecasts within the white paper were all based on oil revenues and we have subsequently learned how misguided that was.

I think it's more a case of the LSE having Scottish oil to fall back on? 

 

The £ is decreasing against other currencies all the time, the only real sellable asset the UK has is Oil and Gas. We have barely any manufacturing with even the car industry now decreasing. 

 

"The City" makes it money from selling insurance, property etc, when this is replaced by computers and bots etc it'll still be the same people/shareholders making money but they won't bother staying in London they'll move some where nice. The London property market is already decreasing due to Brexit, Frankfurt and even Dublin is gaining the financial jobs London are either losing or would have gained.
