Bridging The Gap

Recommended Posts

Lol@ believing we could reach the champions league playoff rounds. We're struggling to reach the Europa.

Exactly.

People are going to have to accept that they can't expect their club to bridge the gap because finances are the biggest divide and we have no means to bridge the financial gap.

We either have to accept the imbalances as they are and that they will remain for the forseeable or go for radical wholesale changes which are against the traditions of the way the game has been ran since 18oatcake.

Most fans are dead against radical change in our game so they'll just need to accept that they can't have their cake and eat it.

Rijeka and Maribor probably going to get into there this week. Not all countries are like us where there are huge gaps between teams as we are discussing in this thread, often you're playing the 3rd in the league in the Europa league quals and 2nd in the league in CL quals. Fuck me some of these teams are basically the same standard but just got separated by a point or a few goals goal difference. Still get utter shit teams in CL qualifying.

It's actually much, much easier to reach the Champions League P/O round or group stage than it is to do the same for the Europa League.

By some fucking distance.

Due to the CL "champions route" the tims can only come across teams from the wee leagues.

It's not possible for them to meet teams from Spain, Germany, Italy, England, France etc

Or even from Portugal, Russia, Greece, Holland, Turkey, Belgium & Ukraine.

Countries that all provide possible opponents for us in the Europa.

Biggest problem is getting there in the first place by winning the title.

After that you can be like Celtic, play a pishy team like Reyjkavik, Dundalk Stjarnan and an easily beatable team such as Rosenburg, Quarabag, to get to CL P/O then you are guaranteed Europa League minimum.

Like 2 years ago when the might of Malmo papped them oot, and Maribor year before.

FFS, the cunts only had to beat teams from Gibraltar, Kazak and Israel to get into Champions League groups stages last season. :hypno:

Lol. It is funny that it is so blantantly corrupt in favour of the 'big' sides that it is so much easier to get into the champions league via the qualifiers than the europa league & that even if you fail at that you then get the easiest possible route into the europa league via losing lol
