"Ireland claims 4% of world whisky makes them £2.5Bn per year but SWA says Scotland's 80% makes less than £4bn so who is the liar?"

The UK govt have been proven many many times to be lying fucking cunts, if you want any part of that debacle you're a fucking coward and/or a moron.

Fuck you old manny you hun cunt.

Are you for fucking real? I was going to Pittodrie when you were still in your nappies min. Served my country and did an eighteen month tour in Northern Ireland in 1976/77 so I reckon that rules out the coward and the Hun part of your argument. The moron part is debatable and I have been called a lot worse in my time by fucking experts. All governments are fucking liars and only an idiot would trust any of them and that includes the SNP, although they have done a fine job in Scotland since they came to power, but their quest for Independence at any cost is clouding their political judgement in my opinion. The Tories are cunts, but better the devil you know than the devil you don't. We dodged the bullet the last time and that should make us wary of taking a decision that there is no coming back from.

So your contention is no country within the EU is an independent country?

Some are more independent than others. Germany and France are the big hitters while countries like Greece, Italy and Portugal are the ones taking the big hits. Why would Scotland be given special status?

:)

Bit of a crowd scene at the bottom of the page.

You're havering. I've made no assertions on anything here.

Merely pointed out your use of "separation" is pathetic.

As previously stated, I've no interest debating with you on this.

Total nonsense and the type of attitude that holds Scotland back as a country.

My parents think similarly sadly... fortunately yours and their generation will soon be gone and Scotland can become a proper, progressive country that takes responsibility for it's own affairs.

LOL

I can assure you I have no intention of leaving this world anytime soon. It might surprise you to learn that I have no inherent objection to Scotland going its own way, but I do object to us giving up one set of political overlords for another. We should simply go for WTO rules to begin with and then negotiate our own trade agreements with other countries. Who the fuck would not want to buy our Whisky, food produce and carbon neutral technology while at the same time throwing open their markets to Scottish innovation. We can do it if for once in our history if we have the courage to really stand on our own two feet.

You can have indy with out rejoining the EU and you can have indy without voting for the SNP, I'd recommend at least one.

Aye a binary choice does seem to be the in phrase these days, but how we could get independence without the SNP being in the loop evades me at this moment in time. Canna wait until you enlighten me mucker.

I'm not convinced we will see a 2nd referendum, at least not in the near future.

The SNP have done nothing to address the problems with their original, failed pitched - because they don't know how.

Really, the facts are not really important to the SNP / other indy types: they would sell their soul to Brussels, if it meant they could indulge in the political equivalent of the tartan army drunkenly wallowing in a public fountain.  "Wheeey!  look at me!  I'm Scottish! Ive got a kilt on, look at my arse!" etc.

Additionally, they (Sturgeon at least) are shiting it from such a vote, as a 2nd loss would be (even more) devastating.

(Although it did take 3 failed votes before Canadian separatists - quebec, was it? - finally admitted defeat).

Sturgeon has made a rod for her own back, calling for a losers vote on brexit, as she could then hardly then be against one, if 'yes' won a 2nd referendum.

If there was to be a 2nd vote, it would necessarily be after the brexit dust has settled, so that the circumstances and consequences of the vote were properly understood.  That could be as much as 5 - 10 years away anyway, and would mean the SNP would need to hang onto power which is not guaranteed (they already rely on the Greens, just as the Tories rely on the DUP).

I think the case for independence is getting harder by the day.  Just now Holyrood has the autonomy to set its own budget.  If you suggested to Sturgeon that they would need to go to Westminster annually, to have their budget checked and approved before they were allowed to action it, they would spit in your face.

But they would happily accept the need for Brussels to approve* ("dictate") Scottish spending every year.  Anything is worth it, to climb into that fountain and whip their arse out.

(*Of course, the EU financial rules only apply to the wee nations, Germany and France can ignore them with impunity.  Macrons recent cave in to the Yellow vests means France is breaching EU financial rules - and this is OK.  But currently the EU will not allow Italy to breach the same rules).
