Okay then, train penalties all through development if you are a striker then. It doesn't matter if you're any use any of the other time.

I don't hate Cosgrove, stop making up shite you absolute bairn.

Also you are frothing at the mouth all the time on here. You're the most angry person on here by a distance. Don't moan when people pull you up on speaking shit.

OK. What did Cosgrove do in any of those games that ANYONE, literally ANYONE else couldn't have done?

Do you really think if we started, for example, the away game in Finland with Main or Wilson up front that the game would have gone exactly the same way as it did in reality? Except with Main or Wilson on the pitch instead of Cosgrove?

My problem is more Main and Wilson than Cosgrove. I already know Cosgrove isn't very good and I'm not expecting him to score many. The problem is that if he is thought to be the best option of the three then we've totally wasted our budget on the other two.

Take your point, but I tend to credit the player who draws the penalty more than the player tucking it away.

If Scott McKenna got the ball in defence, bombed down the park, beat 5 or 6 tackles before being brought down in the box just as he is about to pull the trigger, I would credit him more with the goal than the penalty taker.

So...out of the penalties he has scored, how many has Cosgrove won?

Thats clutching at straws now, total desperation

Feel free to fuck off if it bothers you so.  We could do without your particular brand of positivity to be honest.

(this is the part where you throw in a few "m8s" to thinly veil the imminent meltdown you're about to have)

Nobody cares what you think, stop harassing me please

Yeah, I'm definitely the angry one here. Definitely not you who is throwing your toys out the pram over a game of football  :hysterical:

Think there are two sides to this argument, there are poachers who will score goals whenever they get a chance see Duncan Shearer, Ruud Van Nistelrooy (not comparing him just his style of play), Adam Rooney etc but will do absolutely fuck all the rest of the game.

However they will take their chance when needed (even if it is a pen) and you can afford that luxury if you have a good enough team around them.

On the other hand you get folk like Mackie that run around like fuck and get no goals.

Well this is it. Mackie was terrible at everything, not even good at pens. I could understand the sheer vitriol dished out to him. This is just bizarre stuff on this thread.

Let's put it this way.

If Wilson or Main had played in the last three European ties, the scorelines would have been equal to or better than they were. Cosgroves contributions were "kicking a football into a net from 12 yards out, with only the keeper to beat". Nicky Low and Brian Irvine managed that, and neither of them are strikers.

He gets into good goal scoring positions, hence the goals he scored last season. This season he was getting into positions in the first game, but has wasted every single chance. You can't simply keep playing someone because they were ok last season, they should be picked based on form. Currently his form is shite.

It really is that simple.

Likewise if we had Ronaldo and Messi playing for us we would have won the league last season. What a lot of nonsense.

As for only picking players on form, Wilson would be out the door if we did that.

You talk some amount of shite. Are you honestly saying it doesn’t matter if all a striker can do is score penalties? So if we don't get awarded a penalty we're as good as playing with 10 men? Is it not better to have a striker that can also do other stuff, like win headers and get them on target, or find space in the box?

That's not what I said. Are people deliberately being stupid? Cosgrove can obviously score goals that are not penalties, did you spend last season on the moon?

That's not really the case though, is it. More negative nonsense.

I'm not a fan of Wilson, but if McInnes has signed the player he thinks he has then surely he has to give Wilson a run of games in the starting XI.

I'd have him up front with supporting Cosgrove though. They linked up well against Hearts at the end of last season.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all.

I'm saying you can't guarantee that the results would have been the same in those games if we played a different line up.

Why, oh why, did he choose that fucking game to piss about with his penalty taking and not just go bottom left or right and hit it with the power of a Greek god, like he did countless times before?

Haunts me to this day (especially since their keeper was their 'Danny Ward').

Also, the ref should have just let our goal stand instead of giving a penalty.

I think this was his pressure penalty. The other time he did it was the league cup final and possibly one other massive game.

I thought Darren Mackie's penalty against Queens Park was a thing of beauty. The ball should have made its way to Antartica by now.

Still can't believe that the ref called back play and chalked off a goal to award us a penalty which we then missed...fucking ridiculous.

I'm impressed they had the foresight to buy a rowing boat after signing Mackie to retrieve the balls lost in the water.

A higher fence behind the goal might have been a good idea. That penalty might have still cleared it though.
