Anyway.. we should probably promote from within and give some of the young lads a chance in all honesty.

Have you seen some of their results lately? Can't be too many banging on the 1st team door.

Good football cliche that one.

McInnes saying he looked at the free agent list and there were a few who could of definitely helped us out but he's willing to wait for Bryson to come back. IMO he's been told no by the board. Absolutely no chance a manager turns down the opportunity to sign a central midfielder with the injuries we have at the moment. Bryson wasn't even up to full speed when he got injured last week so what chance do we have once he's back. The board should be putting money up and signing an experienced central midfielder to help us through the next few weeks. Unfortunately its too late for Hearts tomorrow and they obviously don't see us dropping too many points and being a drift of third by the time some of the injured players come back in. Lack of ambition and will only hurt McInnes relationship with the fans further as the football on display is only going to get worse.

It's an area of the park that we have very little coming through the youth system in as well so very difficult to promote within. The players listed below are all decent players who would be within our reach if we just pushed the boat out a bit.

Joe Ledley- Didn't play a lot for Derby last year but only 32 and knows the league.

James Morrison - 19 apps in the championship for WBA last season.

Birkir Bjarnsson - 16 apps for Villa last year in the championship, played and scored for Iceland in the most recent international games.

Josh Mceachran - On trial at Birmingham I believe, 24 apps for Brentford last season. Has Scottish roots as is eligible for the national team.

Mile Jedinak - very experienced Australian international in similar mould to Mark Milligan at Hibs last year. 17 apps last year for Villa.

Vurnon Anita- Ex Newcastle player spent last season on loan at Willem II from Leeds Utd.

Darren Fletcher - Played 18 times for Stoke last year. Could surely still do a job up here with his experience and younger guys around him.

Darron Gibson- Played 18 times in the championship for Wigan last year. Plenty experience but terrible attitude from what I saw on the Sunderland documentary.

Youssouf Mulumbu- Knows the league and has shown his ability.

Gareth Barry- Unrealistic as I imagine he's made too much money like some of the other names to bother coming up here. 38 years old but played 25 times in the championship for WBA last year. Was apparently training with WBA up until recently as well in hope of a new deal.

Almen Abdi- Rleased by Sheff Wed, played a few times for them but largely frozen out due to high wages. Probably piss poor but another option.

Waste of a post as were not going to sign anyone but worth thinking about that the options out there aren't all bad. Driver and Halford both shocking, Halford was signed with about a month left in the season so the free agents list would of been poor. Still some decent players out there at this stage in the season and other clubs have shown this in the past.

Of that list, Mulumbu and possibly Ledley are the only realistic names who might be interested. Some have made fortunes in their careers and aren't likely to want to decamp to a northern outpost in Britain to earn a fraction of what they once did for 6 months or a year at most. However we are horrendously short of midfielders at the minute and probably won't see Ojo again till very close to, maybe even after, the January break. As it stands, we are now left crossing our fingers that Ferguson doesn't pick up an injury or we are totally goosed.

However all those who a few weeks back were advocating releasing Gleeson hopefully will see just why he wasn't. He's bound to get a fair bit of game time in the upcoming weeks as Dean Campbell just isn't quite ready to play week in week out just yet....he will play the majority of games and continue gaining experience but he will need to be used carefully and taken out for a game or two every so often.
