I think you only get sent off if you don't make any attempt to play the ball, and it has to be a goalscoring opportunity. I remember Hedges tripped up and fell onto a Hun giving away a pen, and because of that quirk in the rules he was sent off, as he hadn't attempted to play the ball.

Yeah, it would mean VAR and the ref would have had to ignore 2 penalties instead of just 1.

Maybe his current manager doesn't tell him he's shite every day.

If there was a foul then fair enough, but I certainly didn't see anything that was "clear and obvious".

According to BBC the ref awarded the pen (it certainly looked like he did at the time), but VAR spotted a foul on Johnston.

Does anyone actually know what the foul was? If there was a foul prior to the pen, then fair enough. But could somebody tell/show us what the foul was.

And even if they find nothing they have the added bonus of making our player wait ahead of his pen.

If they genuinely thought it hadn't been given due to Carter Vickers being in control of the ball they should have been calling it out as bullshit. However if they realised it wasn't given due to a foul they should be correcting their error and showing us the foul. But they don't give a fuck as Celtic are through.

Leven has said he was told it would have been a pen but there was a foul beforehand. Sportscene giving out false info on the reason for penalty denial. Don't know what the foul was as Sportscene haven't mentioned it.

Leven has just mentioned a foul before the incident. This may be an case of Sportscene being shite and making false statements.

The commentators were comparing it to the Huns incident earlier in the season, but in that case the player has possession of the ball. This was a loose ball that Vickers hadn't touched yet and Hoilett got there first.
