My preference is Murrayfield. Not just because I live in Edinburgh but for many more reasons.

1. (& most importantly) Glasgow is a shit hole full of shit heads

2.. Murrayfield is a far better stadium than Hampden, not just the capacity but access & surroundings also

3.. travel in & around is far better than the mad rush & chance of missing kickoffs if you have the slightest fk up in plan. Plan B's to get to Hampden is few & far between unless lucky with taxis. Where as Edinburgh most places are within reasonable walking distance of stadium, or you have plenty buses (especially the airport route if in town) & equally the trams now.

4..NO MORE 'arse cheek ends'

5.. It's far more neutral for most teams that will meet the arse cheeks in a semi/final

6..None of the arse cheeks get paid for use of their ground, if (which is very likely) it is to be shared between their two shitholes & they also don't get their pitch surfaced for free.

7..You can drink in the street prior to & after games. Especially great when fine weather.

8.. Less nasil weegie accents to deal with byraway big man n aw that

9..The nights out after. Especially better if our/your team has just played an arse cheek & the majority have fkd off back to the weege & you can get on with your night with less of the arse cheek cunts around.

Feel free to add your own, or deny my reasons

The middle article shows all that is wrong with Scottish football.

"Murrayfield, of course, as an attractive alternative, sits there like a well-off suitor allowing other surrogates to pop the question for it.

Without wishing to cast a slur on that famous fixture, an Old Firm cup final in the capital would be as welcome to the constabulary there as the Ebola virus. Fine stadium, wrong idea."

The constabulary in Glasgow lap it up then do they? Fucking arsehole.
Murrayfield would be the best solution.
Won't happen though.

Will also add

10.. They have to spend more giro money just to get to the games & have to suffer the train travel (to a lesser extent tbf) that we all have had to over the years. This however will be one of their biggest arguments for the national stadium not moving out of the weege... because celtic are always in the semi/finals so shouldn't be made to travel so much

I agree it will never happen. Mostly because of the corruption & their power/influence over the game here.

The debate (that will never be anything but one sided) will help to highlight just how corrupt they are once again though, so I welcome the debate from that point.

It's all pointless I know. As we all know that it is always going to end with a ground share between those cunts

Aye. Awful piece written of course by staunch Hun Archie McPherson. Scottish Fitba will never move on.

Big games e.g. cup finals, major internationals should be played in the capital city (murrayfield) . Semis should be played on the ground of the team drawn first (really draw out the conspiracy theorists). Mickey mouse internationals could be shared around...fairly.

Chances of happening? Remote.

Hampden is shite.

Yep, only half the seats in the stadium give you a good view, it's a fucking murder place to get in and out of (left Aberdeen at 2pm for the Poland game and walked in just after the kick off) and it's never been a true neutral venue.

Move it to Edinburgh and if the cheek fans can't behave on their way through to the capitol for semi-finals and finals then chuck them out of the competition.

Spot on.

However the myopic self serving blazers running our game will never let the games be played in Edinburgh. Doesnt suit their agenda.

Murrayfield is not a long term solution though. Wasn't that impressed when was there for Hearts/Aberdeen. Sight lines weren't great, food kiosks were overly expensive and they had just four of them serving 7,000 fans.

I think we should be using Murrayfield more, definitely, and both Aberdeen's semi-finals last season would have been better there, but still think there's some use for Hampden. If Aberdeen can raise private investment for Kingsford can the SFA not do the same and redevelop Hampden?

What do you like about it?

Can't answer for Tord, but the main and north stands are good, there's some decent bars nearby. It's walkable from city centre.

The two stands behind the goals are the problem, and the fact it's rubbish as a semi venue because it's all one tier which is fine if full, but a crowd of 30,000 can get lost in it (Celtic Park & Murrayfield they could just use lower decks, though they managed to fuck that up at Ibrox when we played St Johnstone).

pretty sure this is all just chat to drive down the rental costs of hampden. would be very surprised if we left queens park high and dry

i like hampden but would vote get rid due to aberdeen shit record and that scotland rarely fill it

Hampden is not wholly owned by queens park though so I dont see how this can drive down rental costs when the Sfa are basically renting it from themselves.

Also not sure how it leaves Queens Park high and dry or indeed why that should be a factor in the decision.

Is No.7 correct? I thought it was a no-no to drink in the streets in town.

Link to comment

There's allowances made but you can't wander around drinking no. Like you can't leave the designated areas with a drink in those periods same with the Xmas market etc

They won't be for football fans

I thought I read somewhere that there was too much administration involved in applying for special licences for the festival and the new year celebrations that they decided to not ban drink on the street.

Very rarely in Edinburgh so I could be speaking shite.

Was thinking the same about Murrayfield bit far from the action in the stand behind the goals, the catering thing doesn't bother me but there looked to be only a few food vans outside with huge queues.

Still prefer it to Hampden though

If you're in the Xmas market for example you're fine try to leave with your drink security will stop you.

Same as anywhere.

In August there's a certain tolerance as I say.

But can you imagine police Scotland doing that for football

This has nothing to do with stadia only giving rangers and celtic more money

This will only add against the level playing field that is already there

Lets be honest 99% of the games moved about will go to old firm

For example all cup finals celtic are involved in for a start will go to iprix ( yes most of them)

Of course the media will push the agenda saying it will be spread around

Maybe an idea would be to take turn about unless sellout and move it with that team missing their turn

They have the most suitable grounds for internationals.

Chill out Caledonia; you’ll give yersel an aneurysm

Like any stadium with a track, Hampden is shite.

Needs remodeled and built from scratch

British football needs decent national stadia.

What sets us apart from monkey nations
