  1. He would have got a decent rise last summer when Sheffield got promoted up to the EPL. That sort of wage (in EPL terms it would still be seen as pretty crap) is well beyond our means. Of course they're going straight back down to the Championship and will need to cut their cloth accordingly despite getting a whopping great parachute payment in doing so. Lowe has only been used sparingly this season (8 matches is what I'm seeing, with only 3 starts) but did play a fair bit the previous season. Difficult to say if he will get a new contract there, relegation might help him in this regard although it seems very late to be without a new offer (that we know of anyway). Even if he's released, he'd surely pick up a contract at a lower end Championship team on money we just wouldn't be able to match.
  2. It would require an all-comers record from cruciate repair surgery for him to make the Euro's squad. He'll be doing well to be playing again this side of Xmas
  3. Not unless Aberdeen is suddenly and magically transposed to a location that is south of the Scotland/England border. The further south of it the better. And the club finds itself allowed to play in EFL1 (at worst) next season. I'd be telling your "friend" to move on from any ideas of Alex Neil managing us any time soon. The only job he'd take in Scotland right now (and it's one that won't be happening as they won't be interested in him no matter if their current manager resigns in the summer) is the Celtic job. If he remains without a job this time next season he might be forced into changing his ideas but right now he'd take a job at Exeter or Charlton (it comes up every few months so watch this space) in preference to us
  4. No chance. I don't think the £10m plus valuations that a few on here thought we'd get were ever realistic but he is a regular starter at international level and he has got goals (thank fuck someone has) for a piss poor side last season that got us a lucrative European place out of nowhere and one that's incredibly even worse this season. He's a £5m player all day long, if we could get 2 or 3 sides into a bidding war we could possibly get it up to maybe £7m and as someone else said, we should make a decent return on him in future years with the potential add-ons we will insert into any deal.
  5. If we can't avoid finishing 11th without relying on teams around us to drop points we would deserve everything we got. I will always want whoever is facing sevco to win Go Coonty!
  6. I actually think we'll put up a decent performance for over 80 minutes, holding them to 0-0. Then just as it looks like we might take them to extra time (or even snatch a winner in normal time), 2 very late goals for them will make the result look more like it usually does against Timothy.
  7. My concern is he will want to surround himself with a few fellow Scandinavians and sign Gartenmann permanently. There's not one player it would bother me in the slightest if we chose to allow to leave at end of their contract/pay up contract and release/sell
  8. Supposedly Montgomery's family hate it here and are desperate to head back home to Australia. If they do part company in the summer Hibs will surely pay whatever it takes to get McInnes out of his Killie contract and give him a decent contract and budget
  9. A professional footballer should be at least be getting a shot on target there
  10. Fuck knows what each one of Robson, Leven and Warnock see/seen in Gartenmann that pretty much 0% of us on here see in him. The fucker must be like Beckenbauer in training matches. Jensen really hasn't been any better (but nor any worse) but at least pairing him with MacDonald you'd get a left footed player in LCD rather than having 2 (extremely) right footed players covering both central defensive positions
  11. £2 on the sixfold and I've went a fiver each on trebles numbers 12 and 18
  12. He clearly doesn't want to be in Aberdeen. I'd suspect that he doesn't want to be anywhere in Scotland. Clubs will know that he only has a year left on his contract. They'll also know he tried his best to engineer himself a move away in the January window. So if they're interested in buying him, they're likely going to try low-balling us. And with us having to cough up half of anything we get for him to Benfica, it's doubtful we'll make a big profit on him. Under those circumstances, I'd normally say we'd be best just to keep him for the last season of his contract and accept losing him for free. If we could be sure he'd perform as he did in his first season, it'd be well worth taking that hit. But the loon just looks unhappy all round. He's been ok in flashes but generally he's been poor, certainly in comparison to what he did last season. Sadly I think it's best for everyone we just let him go in the summer.....not for peanuts but if we could get a fee of over £1.5m we'd be giving Thelin a decent chunk of cash to try to source a replacement.
  13. I'd have taken Kelly this time last year but he's been horrifically bad this season so it's a no to him. Jason Kerr seems to have recovered well from his cruciate injury. Hopefully we send Gartenmann back from whence he came, Kerr would be a decent replacement. Docherty as a straight swap for the departing Barron would make sense
