Can't believe some folk on here think The Kings Links is a poor course. The only think that spoils the course is the lack of a boundary fence. When in good condition an absolute gem of a Scottish links - exactly the type of course the game should be played on.

Anybody played Carnoustie Championship course? Planning on taking my old man down there for a day golfin. Is the hotel any use?

braid hills no.3 i think. if you like your gowf on the top of a hill surrounded by gorse and tv masts, it's unbeatable.

 

i think it's merchants in edinburgh, but it's got wicked slopedge.

I would avoid westhill like the plague!

However a decent course to play is aboyne. Challenging

Did not enjoy East Aberdeenshire, thought it was a awful course. Played Huntly once, didn't like it either.

 

Really like Newburgh & Craibstone. Like the back 9 at Ellon too.

Had a golf weekend in Kinross a few years back and went in search of somewhere to play a few extra holes. Found a wee 9-holer called Bishopshire near Loch Leven. Think Westhill, but on a slope. Feckin brutal course, built mostly into the side of a steep hill it was a bit like batting up and doon Bennachie.
